Thanks for all of the input. We may get an Explorer first because I have boats and trailers to pull around and there is an extra $3000 rebate on explorers right now with an extra $1000 for going with ford financing. That would come to an $8000 rebate. DATS A LOT OF BREAD! Her brother actually lives in Detroit and works for the Ford Corp in the "Parts section" from what I understand. I'm from Florida and have not met the dude yet. I'll tap'em for the rebate and any info I can get on the new stang....including the rim questions.

My grandfather got me his Z-plan witch is awsome
Ask your sales person/Grandfather/or person on the phone at Ford with whom you give the PIN number to about an extra $1000.00 towards the purchase of your new ride. I recieved this extra $1000.00 when I purchased my '04 Mach 1 at the end of April. My grandfather didn't even know, my sales person informed me. (Not sure on the time limit for such a discount.) [/b][/quote]
thanks for the tip i'll do that

I am planning to do the same thing. Use my boyfriends XPlan pin to get the stang. And I too am worried about having to get it in HIS name. Its MY car, I will be paying for it. But in Florida, you can put an "OR" on the title, and then EITHER person can sign the title. A little bit extra security...versus it being totally in his name.

Regarding the X-Plan, when I spoke to the representative at Ford, they told me that the car had to be registered in the name of the person who is issued the PIN. I'm not sure if they are flexible about this or not. Somehow I think not. But - your best bet would be to call and ask them, they were very informative when I called. Hope it goes okay for you.

Anyone know if you can get X-plan if you're a member of the CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) ?

Kluski, Your step Dad can get you an A-plan too. Its a better price. plus you still get the rebates even if you use the a/x plans.

As far as whether or not they check the relationship to ford employees for the A-plan, lets just say "If you lie, your fired, no questions asked." It's just not worth the risk.

The X-plan is FRIENDS and family. so you can give it to any one.

I am engaged to a girl who is a sister of a Ford employee. We are getting married on March 12, 2005. I plan on putting down around $8000.00 on a Mustang and I want to use her Ford family discount plan as soon as possible. Probably before we get married. I understand that it will have to be in her name. What do you guys and gals think? I'm trying to figure every angle to cover myself and my investment. I aslo understand that a Ford employee can only use is "PIN" for the discount a couple of times a year. Also what if it was her cousin and not her brother? Please help with input.
Here are the facts:

For A Plan, it has to be in the name of an "eligible family member", which includes:

Spouse
Parents
Spouse's parents
Sons and daughters (including in-laws and step-children)
Grandchildren
Brothers and sisters (including in-laws, half and step)

for atleast 6 mos after purchase. After that point, it can be transferred to some one elses name.

Every Ford employee gets 4 A plan pins a year, and 4 X plan pins a year.

X plan is 4% above A Plan, or in otherwords, 2 % above invoice. X plan can be given to anyone by any Ford Employee.

Unless you guys are married sooner, I think it would be safest to either have your girl put it in her name, or just do the X plan thing in your name. I'm not exactly sure if it can be titled in two names (one eligible, and one not) under A Plan rules. You could ask a dealer about that.

Anymore questions, please feel free to ask!

Wrong. I offer X plan and sell cars to AAA members at least once a week. If I say something on this forum, believe me, I am absolutely positive about it. There is enough misinformation being posted, please do not contribute to it.

Okay, so I did read you correctly.

So.....does it apply to the CAA?

Canadian Automobile Association Fleet Ste. 200 - 1145 Hunt Club Rd. Ottawa ON K1V0Y3

Canadian Automobile Association Suppliers 60 Commerce Valley Drive East Thornhill ON L3T7P9

If you are referring to either of the above, or their affiliates, then yes it does apply for X plan. Got the info from Ford's X plan list. The six digit codes, K1V0Y3 and L3T7P9 are the supplier codes that you need to get a pin #

You can join the EAA(experimental aircraft association), but you have to be a member for a year first.

BEK, does this mean you have to work for them or can you be a member (ie. I have CAA for roadside assistance). Sorry if this is a dumb question.

As far as AAA members getting the x-plan... I am a member of AAA and I just got an Explorer yesterday for $300 over invoice. All I had to do was call AAA and tell them I wanted to buy a Ford and they put me in contact with the dealer in my area. The salesman never called it an x-plan or anything though.

I am sorry but I am not sure what CAA is. If it is like AAA then you only have to be a member. I would call CAA and ask.

Why, oh, why do we have nothing like this here?? I have 3 family members work for FMC.
We do not have any plans though

Now though, If I was to buy a New Mustang to ship over here, would my family ties help (even though they work for FMC (Europe)?)
