I'm planning to order an '06 GT vert. Already have my X-Plan PIN #, and I'm using the Internet to ask dealerships in a 100-mile radius if they will accept X-Plan. Here's one response:

"Like you, we're expecting the 2006 Mustang Order Guides very soon. We will sell a Mustang on X-Plan...if the car is eligible. I'm not sure when we will know for sure if the Mustang (GT in particular) can be bought on X-Plan. Ford can and sometimes limit certain vehicles.

I will let you know when I receive the order guides, just don't know about the X-Plan."

This is the FIRST TIME I've heard that FORD designates certain models as eligible or ineligible for the X-Plan. All the threads I've read said it is a decision made by each dealership.

Also, this dealer mentioned that the Coupes will start being built in August, but he did not know when the convertibles would start being built. Does anyone know?

First, that's a lie. X-plan is available for ANY ford/mercury vehicle that you would like to purchase. Tell your dealer you don't have money to buy that bull.

Second, if the calendar for 06 is the same as 05, verts won't hit the line until January next year, then again, nothing has been said, and since there's no change in body or too many options, they might just continue producing them uninterruptedly.

Dusty,
I did the exact same thing here in Washington state. I made a detailed list of every Ford dealer in the state and contacted them about the X-Plan. Out of the 40+ I contacted, half never responded. About 12 said they couldn't support the X-Plan on a 06 GT and about 8 said they would. Unfortunately, a lot of the people who said no acted like no dealership in the state would do it. It didn't make me feel entirely comfortable about the ones who said yes. I even had one dealer send me a mail yesterday with this comment:

"Hello Craig,
Just wanted to see if you had been able to order your '06 Mustang at X-Plan pricing.....if you were told that, I hope that they honor it! If you are able to get X-Plan, would you mind sharing what dealership offered that, so that I can let me Sales Manager know who we lost business to?"

What does that mean?! It's like he knows his fellow dealers and expects them to try and cheat me on it. Great. I'm already freaking out about some dealer making me wait for 6 months to get my GT and then when the time comes they revoke the XPlan pricing...this is not what I wanted to hear.

I'm up to 20 dealerships so far, but of the 4 that replied so far, none are willing to commit to X-Plan without the ordering guide. I completely understand that. I just wanted to start putting the "feelers" out since the order guide could possibly be out next week.

I just hope that FOMOCO builds enough GTs to satisfy everyone, including those '05 orders that were cancelled.

I sure would like to know if Job#1 for convertibles is also going to be August and not January like this year! I live in Virginia, so I could drive a 'vert well into December.

That is not true. The GT (GT40) and Hybrid are not eligible for x-plan currently.

Are you absolutely sure? I think dealers just tell you that 'cause they are not willing to give you neither the GT40 (with markups of 150-300K) or the new Hybrids at the X-plan pricing Ford suggests.

Psssst, Karpro is a dealer, he knows.

If you visit the fordpartner site It clearly states which vehicles are eligible.

Then why would the dealer tell me he doesn't know yet? Strange....

Here is what my partner site says about non-eligible vehicles:
"What Isn't?

· Current excluded vehicles include Ford GT, Escape Hybrid, F-450 through F-750 Super Duty, E-450, E-550 and Aston Martin vehicles. This list of excluded vehicles is subject to change.

· Used vehicles, driver training vehicles and dealer demonstrator units with over 2,000 miles (If over 250, but fewer than 2,000 miles, dealer must fill-out an Exception Request Form. See your dealer for more details).

· Products sold under any other Company plan.

· Prior year models purchased or leased after the date announced by the Company (usually March 31 of the current year).

· Mazda Products – available under the Mazda Purchase ("S") Plan for eligible "A/Z" Plan salaried employees and retirees and Hertz hourly employees. UAW represented employees, retirees, surviving spouses and their family members are not eligible to purchase or lease any non-UAW produced Mazda products."
I also seem to remember that SVT vehicles were on that list last year.

I believe F-350s and work trucks are also not eligible.

Listen, I know that since what happened in 05 makes you want to get your order in now.....but I personally think that in a year the demand won't be the same and you'll be able to walk in and get a car with the X-Plan.

The same thing happened to the new Thunderbird and they aren't even gonna build those anymore. I'm not saying the new Mustang demand will die down that much but in a year I personally think the demand will wain enough to be reasonable again.

(and on the way a bunch of dealers are gonna be left holding overpriced mustangs)

X plan is not available on any Ford unit; F450-F750 are ineligible.

I have also been worring about my X-plan not being honered when my car comes in. I have herd of people asking for it in writing and have the Sales Manager sign it saying that this is your price when you order it. What do they mean about put it in writing do they mean to take out a piece of paper and litteraly write that on it and have it signed.

Get a copy of the order acknowledgement [DORA] that shows the pricing and have it signed and dated by yourself and the manager.

I am in the same boat. I was planning to order an 06 GT Vert from the largest dealer in Phoenix. I spoke with a friend of mine today who is a Fleet Mgr in their network, and he said they are not accepting Xplan on any Mustangs for the immediate future. The best he could do was $2500 over MSRP to order an 06. (They have already accept a half a dozen orders at that price point on 06s) Great deal, huh? I guess my search to find a dealer in the SW or West Coast who accept the plan begins today... :bang:

Why not just offer $400 over invoice till you find a dealer to take the order?

Price ends up about the same as X-plan pricing.

That's an idea, but do you think the dealer response would be any better than identifying myself as an Xplan buyer? I know my local dealers will laugh at me either way.

Dusty1, I see you're in Chesapeake, have you tried Richmond Ford? They're (so far) honoring my Z-plan 05 GT order (took me 13 local Ford dealers to get one that would) so maybe try them. They have been very straight forward and good to me so far, although I am VERY early in the order process.

Thanks, I've gone as far north as Williamsburg and as far south as Edenton NC so far, but out of 20 emails out, I've only received 3 back. I'll keep trying. I bought my '04 F150 from Freedom Ford in VA Beach, and I'd like to stick with them, but so far they have not said yes or no to X-plan. They took X-Plan on the F150.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hope Freedom Ford's allocation is high enough that they'll accept X-Plan. Should know next week, right?
