X-cal ?

Can a tuner be used to read error codes on a car other than the one the tunes are stored in?

I have a SCT x-calibrator SF that has tunes programmed for my car, a friend wants to borrow it to read error codes if a different car. Are there any concerns doing with this? They aren't going to do any tuning and It looks like the tuner supports the vehicle.

The xcal 2 can be used to read codes in other vehicles.

I used my X-cal 2 that I use on my 06' on my buddies 97 GT, just make sure you read the DTC's, not load a tune in

You can clear the codes as well, read & cleared 3 codes off a co-workers Crown Vic last week.

It can read codes on any OBDII equipped vehicle.
Read and cleared codes on my dad's Lincoln no problem.
I would suggest doing it for him.
That way you can prevent any problems (like pushing wrong buttons or other damage).
