WOW it has been 7 years since I bought my car!!!!
Hello all,
My car is safely tucked away for the big bad winter and the other day I was outside checking my tire pressure and recharging the battery.....again.....when it just randomly hit me that this coming August I will have had my car for 8 years!!! God does time fly when you least expect it. So many thing have happened, good and bad, in that time and it got me thinking about a lot of things. Bringing it back specifically to my Mustang there were times when I regretted not getting a GT or whatever going through different issues and phases, but now that I have matured and have my head on straight I have realized that I don't regret a **** thing about this car. I still baby it just as I have for all the years I have owned it and every time I drive it on a nice sunny day I always have the little kid smile on my face. Things are tough now in terms of getting decent paying jobs, but I love this thing and I hope to pull it up along side my Viper, that I have been pining over since I was a kid, someday. Does anyone else feel the same way or had this realization kick you in the head or am the only sentimental fool on the board?

Time goes by so slow on most things as you always seem to wait and wait for something. Then, just like you said, you look at your car and you think, "I've owned that car for how many years???" Unfortunately the value has gone down as well. On the bright side, our cars look especially nice when you see so many new sticker prices north of $30,000.
That makes ours even more appealing.

I'm right there with yall too. I passed 8 years just recently. It makes me sad when I look at the resale value. I still have people ask me if it's a 2012 or a 2013 model, and comment on how it looks so new. But I don't ever plan on selling it, so we've got a long road ahead.
This coming April, I will have had my '06 for 3 years. I scored a great deal on mine when I bought it used, but it has served me well and I love Maxine. Don't see getting rid of her anytime soon, even though she just crossed over the 100K mile mark.
Mine was 7 on dec 17th, still as much fun as the day I got it after that loooong wait. My next new mustang will be paid off in a few months, 09, but otherwise identical to the current one...4 miles on its clock, just waiting till the sad day that the 06 is no more...hopefully the 06 will outlast me, but if not, there's a reset button just sitting there.
Some folks thought I was nuts stashing away a spare, they are probably 100% right- but it was the same payment, same car, didn't notice the difference or miss it... but I like the car so much, to me it was worth the "extended payments" to have a spare.
With the prices of the new basic GT over 30k now, that 09 might be my last car payment. I really feel Ford is pricing the basic V8 mustang out of its traditional market, love them, but 30 would be hard to justify for me...
If the economy holds at all, and no more medical disasters befall our family, I'll put the payments toward finally getting my 69 back on the road after a 29 year garage nap...
In any event, I've been driving the crap out of my dream car for 7 years, if a tornado took them all away tomorrow, I've still been the luckiest guy on earth... My first ordered 06 got smashed at delivery, after the fact, soooo glad I didn't get that car...I was so obsessed over it, it would have owned me. It's two month later born replacement has been a blast- flogged the crap out of it on test and tune days, it gets rained on, sits out in the snow sometimes (no no on driving if any salt on the roads so far- like brand new underneath still except never painted the axle and its of course brown) , my teenage son hit it with a snowshovel last week, and even lived after getting busted for it...i'll fix it. Its only a car, it won't last forever and neither will I, might as well enjoy the ride

Thanks for all the responses guys! Actually my driving habits are what I get ridiculed on the most now. It is 8 years old and has 10k something miles on it.....That is it! I have an Impala that I drive most of the time and honestly I don't really have anywhere to go. Guess I am boring.
I've had mine for 7 years also but with all the down time from the various builds it only has 10,000 miles on it. I should get it back on the road by the end of the month, from my fire and I am really looking forward to it.

That is exactly it. To the world I have a "lowly" V6 Mustang, but to me I have one of the most best cars in the world that is a joy to drive.

Mine will be hitting 8 years in early June. I have a lot of good memories tied up in this car. Cruises, car shows, cross country roadtrips, extensive mod projects like the blower install or the six-speed swap.
Still tinkering too, working on a new shift boot cover today, and I have new tailight frames just waiting on some warm weather...
