Would you buy something else ?

2005 Corvette, if I had the bank. The fuel economy would be superb (Corvettes are certified National Low Emissions Vehicles), and I'd have boatloads of performance.

The Mustang is too, and so is my Wifes Explorer. My Mach is rated 17/26 for mileage. I'm fine with that.
Boomer and Dan are probably gonna kick me in the junk when they read this..
I am in the job hunt, if I find a job where I gotta drive a considerable distance to work, say over 40 minutes, I probably won't buy a mustang as a daily driver... the way i drive I will pay through my teeth for gas, and it is not exciting to rack up mileage chugging through rush hour traffic.... if it is a drive through the countryside, where I will be grinning ear to ear, great... otherwise for a long commute I would get myself something like a TDI.. please don't kick me :flame2:

I can garauntee that on a student budget, with gas going up as it is, I won't be able to afford to maintain and run a mustang. Don't be so ignorant. Not everybody is in good financial disposition. Milage and Emissions are important to me.
I might have to buy something else. My company got sold to our only real competitor, and I turned down a job offer (would have required transferring to another state).
So it depends on whether I find a decent job or not. If I dont get a mustang, I dont know what I will get....

Galaxie...honestly...
I commuted for 1.5 years from St.Catharines/Burlington (not to mention GO fare for the month)
120k/m a day.
Filled up every third day...
My car gets worse highway mileage than a GT 5speed...
It was just something i factored in.
Either living there spending cash, or driving and having fun while spending cash...
Driving the stang up to the GO station everyday, was fun....
I wouldn't have it any other way...

Well if I was poor, i'd sacrifice for gas. No cable or internet. Home cooked meals. etc... its easy if you REALLY want one. I dont make excuses not to own. But this is me and not you. So I am not talking about you ok.

IF gas gets too expensive and I need to drive a lot, I probably won't get a mustang any time soon. I'd be more likely to get a Prius then.

if you want mileage, I say get a diesel.. 1000km on a tank with the TDI

I intend to buy after graduation, as a grad gift to myself. Which means that the money would have to come from the years spent in university. I figure I can save up a decent down payment over 4 years on top of tuition and life expenses.

[SUV owners get the money back on resale(as long as its not a 4x2 or manual), as a general rule, the lower the gas mileage, the higher the resale value tends to be.
A 7 year old Expy with 120k miles can still easilly get $12-15k for it.

The chance of having a brand new '68 passed me by once. I will not miss on its reincarnation. I don't care if gas climbs to $5 per gallon. I will be enjoying the highest performance Mustang of the '07 MY... or a BULLITT. :drive:
In San Diego the gas is about $2.40, but I decided I need a car I can have pride in more than I need the cash I'd save at the pump. If I saved the money on fuel, I'd just end up buying another pizza anyway!
In a previous life I was a delivery driver and averaged about 200 miles per day. If I had to do that again, I'd get a hybrid, but thankfully that period of my life is over.

Gas is no reason not to buy a Mustang. Considering how largely impractical they are for a lot of people, gas is nothing. It's easy to cut out a trip to the dairy queen, cable, or God-forbid walk somewhere in order to save gas.
Not only that if gas goes up to $50, (exagerration) or whatever astronomical rate, five to ten more mpg isn't going to make a grand difference. At least to me. I'm in college, not on scholarship, and not working during the semester, im buying a 00' Gt. If you want something, somewhere somehow you have to sacrifice for it.
