You're missing something.

IIRC, the wipers are retained with screws. They can be accessed by removing the small rubber plug covering the base of the wiper.

Wiper Removal

I am aware of the hex nut which holds the wiper on the tapered shaft. I have removed and still cannot get wiper to come off shaft. Thanks.

are you looking to remove the wiper blade or the whole assembly?

cause I removed all of mine to replace it with the GT500 wiper blade/arms. i can give you a step by step on how to remove them if thats what your looking for.

If you really want a cleaner look...than go with those new type of blades made by Rain-X...(called latitude blades)...go to their site:

http://www.rainx.com/

or check out Bosch ICON Wiper Blades:

Not cheap...but they definitely sit flush to your windshield.

the wiper arms were a bear to get off.........I almost gave up. You need a lot of tugging to get the splines to release. cover surfaces with towels etc to prevent damage when they finally pop off. Try not to pry them up or you will mess up something. I swore they were going to pull out thru the cowl After all that work the squirters are crap. Fortunately I never drive in the rain. (no rain in Nevada)

Wiper Removal Tip

Well guys, thanks for all the follow up but I finally found the trick to getting these guys to release. As I stated I used a small gear puller. ( No prying on anything) Crank it down to put a considerable about of pull on the arm. Then took a heat gun and heated the arm around the shaft. In less than 10 seconds the arm popped right of. Same result on both arms.

Keep it in mind if you ever want or need to remove one.

actually all you needed to do to get the arms off was.

1. engage the wipers to the on position.
2. switch the vehicle in the off position when the wipers are fully swung out.
3. undo the bolt holding the wiper arm.
4. push the wiper itself forward to teh bottom of the windshield till it loosens from the motor stud. (you would then be able to move the wiper up and down on the windshield freely)
5. pull the wiper back allowing it to pivot at the pivot point of the wiper arm. (once you do that, you should feel the wiper arm pop right off the motor stud)
6. remove the wiper assembly.
