I read many articles and posts on message boards regarding the popularity of the GT in 2005 but everytime I see an 05 on the road it's almost always a V6 leading me to believe that the traditional 70/30 ratio of V6 to GT is not being that heavily skewed. Of course, it could just be a regional thing. I live in Dallas TX and in this very urban environment, a V6 really is more than enough so maybe people here are just buying smarter. What is everyone else's experience? Are you seeing more GTs than V6s?

Only have seen a small number on the road. I'm in eastern Bergen county NJ just outside NYC. Sightings since November:

1 Torch Red V6
1 Torch Red GT

1 Redfire V6

1 BLACK GT

1 Windveil Blue V6
1 Windveil Blue GT

I see about 10 times more V6's, if not more. Not too mention, there are always V6's on my dealer's lot. I saw one GT once on the way to work... on the way home it was gone. I don't know any concrete numbers, but I'm almost positive that Ford made more V6's than V8's this year, as well as any year for that matter.

The reason there are more V6s made is to keep the average fuel economy of the car lower than if more GTs were made.

You're kidding right? Heck no, I haven't seen too many 05s at all around here, but I've only seen two GTs and a Roush Stage 1, the other 15 or so (maybe some repeats in there) have been v6's.

And my guess is that 06 will be no different, no way Ford will produce more GTs than sixers. Apparently from what I've ready on this site, there are CAFE(sp?) standards that Ford must adhere to that prevents them from producing too many low MPG vehicles. Although there is very little difference btw. the V6 and the V8 when it comes to gas mileage, so I wonder about this. I've also heard that since the V8 is used in the F150, they won't reduce truck production to boost GT production. It would seem to me that for 06 they could make more V8's hence more Gts, but I guess we'll see.

The ironic thing is the gas mileage is almost the same. I am in south FL and have not seen alot of mustangs in general considering its been out over 6 months. Probably more 6's then GT's though.

I should have clarified. I know for certain that Ford is making more V6s than GTs. They always have and probably always will. And I know at the end of the year, the V6 will have sold more than the GT. That's just the way it has always been. My post was really just to see if people thought that the GT might be catching up to the V6. I think the ratio of V6s to GTs produced has always been something like 70 V6s for every 30 GTs. What I want to know is do people think that that ratio will be skewed for this year and possibly the 2006+ models

Obviously I chose a poor title for the topic. Sorry

I've seen about an equal number of GTs and V6s now. I know reality will catch up eventually and I will see more V6s than GTs.

I've seen about 10 total 05 Mustangs (not including the taunting daily sightings of some girl that has a torch red V6) and all but one are V6's.

Theres not many 05 mustangs in my area of Mississippi. But I have only seen V6s for the most part, one white, two silver and I just saw one Mineral Gray while I was just at lunch.

The only GT I have seen was in Louisiana. But they are getting more popular, and I'd imagine if and when the prices come down, there will be more

But around here, mostly everyone has trucks. Although there are plenty mustangs 2004 and older around ---

Tell me about it. Around here, I can't NOT see a 99-04 Mustang. I mean, I've tried, but I cannot go a single day without seeing more than 5 of them. And trucks, don't get me started...

A reason it may appear that the ratio is not as drastic is that every GT is selling very quickly while many dealers have V6s sitting on the lots.

Until recently I saw way more GT's than V6's but, the 6's are finally catching up. I'm starting to see more 6's now. This is on the West side of Ft Worth.

I know what you mean. You don't see a bunch in Pittsburgh. But I visited my parents in Virginia Beach. I drove around to look at houses. In my 2 - 3 hour travels. I saw (10) ten 2005 Mustangs. Three white and the rest red. Two of the reds were verts. I think I only saw about 2 of them that were GTs.

I am seeing at least 1 to 2 v6s a day in my daily driving down here.... GTs are still kind rare......

What kills me is over the past month or so, I have glimpsed TWO GTs I wanted to get a close look at but they were going the opposite way - a black in Boca/Delray with some kind of aftermarket spoiler/wing - and a screaming yellow with black racing stripes in Boca I have glimpsed TWICE right around the Clint Moore - Jog road area... REALLY wanted a close look at that one.... :bang:

Much different up here. The dealers only had GTs for the longest time and now that there's a dozen or so 05s that I see on a regular basis on the road, only 2 have been V6 cars. The dealers are finally getting V6s in and yes, they're sort of stagnating on the lot. We've got three Ford dealers in town and one's got a couple of V6 verts and several GT verts and 1 GT coupe and the other two have 2-3 V6 coupes and 1-2 GT coupes combined (same dealer, two showrooms). I think the GT outnumbers the V6 by at least 3-1 here. I can't see this continuing...

I see mainly GTs, and several Saleens. Actually, I have seen more Saleen's than V6s.

Doesn't hurt that I am 15 minutes away from them though (even though they can't sell here).

And now, I have seen just as many convertibles as coupes.

I think it is all regional.
