Will Aftermarket HID's fail state inspection?

Like the title says, will I fail my state inspection (Virginia) because I have aftermarket HID's installed? Or should I put the stock bulbs back in, the same way I'm going to put the stock intake back in to make sure I pass emissions? Thanks in advance

I would just reinstall the factory to be on the safe side.

That's a good question since VA has some tough standards..

unless it's a real hassle, just put the stockers back in. i bought some brighter bulbs for my 91 firebird that were DOT legal and had that stamped on the len's, but was failed because the inspector though they were too bright. i live in south jersey. also got failed because i had a larger mirror installed over my orignal one and was told this was "obstructing your rearview mirror, and was unsafe."

I switched back to stock but left the fogs alone. I don't know if they bothered checking the fogs but car passed. Not before the wipers had to be replaced.

Asked a State Trooper about the Hid's about a year ago, he said there were no laws against them, just the ones that go under the car. Hope this helps.

Interesting. I didn't want to risk it so I put the stock bulbs back in. Left the fogs alone, and it passed (well after a $36 set of wiper blades...but that's another story)
