Someone on the Lincoln LS owner's club site posted this (uesterday 5/31). He is located in VA, in the Norfolk, Chesapeake, VA Beach area.

My neighbor had a party yesterday and I met a sales manager from one of the Ford dealers here. We were talking about the 05 Mustang and he told me they had over 100 orders for the car.

That's my area, and i believe that to be....

Beach Ford has their heads up their ****, Freedom Ford possibly, but do not sell the volume to justify it, my order is in at Cavalier Ford which could possibly, and Kimnach is the smallest dealer of the Big 4, and there's no way they have the volume for 100 orders.

Unless this sales manager works at Cavalier or Freedom, or maybe Beach, i would not be believing that one, and the sales managers know less than the dealers in most cases, so hmmm

No, they're going to be sold out, demand will be high at first, but not sold out.

I agree. I don't think that he has a 100 ordered. thats alot of mustangs. But I do think ford will run out of Stangs for the 05 year. I forget the numbers there producing. but its like 180, 000. or something? correct me if I'm wrong. I would not be suprised if they all sold. Because there is lots of Demmand for it.

I would agree with that. I ordered the PT Cruiser early and received one of the early cars, but it still took 4 months to arrive. It took about a year to catch up with demand, but the car never ‘sold out’. Watch out for dealers who charge above MSRP. This is a mass produced car, and paying above sticker is bad idea.

The only way the car would be "sold out" is if 180,000 people went to their local ford dealer and ordered the car, not likeley IMO.

The first 3-4 months you will pay through the ying-yang to get the first ones, but after that it should be pretty reasonable.

Mark my words: There will not be widespread markup on the 05. Local markups by dealers, yes, but nothing high, and nothing drastic.

If they do, I'll ask, why is this marked up from the Ford website. If they say its not, or don't lower the price, I'm walking out. There are about 8 Ford dealers withint 10 minutes of me, so I have my choice.

And thats exactly why it won't happen. There are 5000+ ford dealers. Thats 100 per state. They know if they arent competitive, they won't sell anything. Large markups just won't happen.

I personally don't think anyone should pay more than MSRP on a new Mustang. I have in writing from my dealer that I will not pay a cent over MSRP, and will have first dibbs at the 2 Mustangs he gets in right off the bat. Part of this is from giving him a $2,500 (refundable) deposit, part of it is because I am on him like white on rice, but thing is... he's not a crook. Any dealer or Manager, etc. who marks up the '05 Mustang is a crook... just move on and find another dealer. As far as them selling out, NO WAY. Not gonna happen.

Ahhhh... The smell of hysteria. Low key, I need to start harrasing some of the Ford dealers around here though. Because I'm really going to wanting and needing that new stang come december and that will only be like three months after launch.
Who in the general Detroit area had been making the rounds? AmyV6 help me out here...

A 2-door 2+2 isn't practical for a lot of people, so it shouldn't be a problem. I will wait a few months until demand is down and build quality is up.

Did you buy your last pair of nike shoes at $125.00, or at its cost of $7.50? You will still pay msrp for a mini cooper, 350z, or prius

HA i got mine for $50 bux at an outlet! but that $7.50 still sounds better. now to get i dont think the 2005 mustang will be sold out. it just wont happen. i do however think demand will be pretty high at first, but by april or may of 2005 (when i plan to purchase mine*) demand will have decreased.

*that is, if i can scrounge up enough $$
