Glad I can be your clown

And no, your sig doesn't bother me.

And also thats the difference between altoid and myself. At least when I post, I have a point.

yeah, yeah, yeah...

no wife to be jealous of my mustang that isn't here yet, so can't add to that, but Grantsdale, I'm with you - mods who are reading, isn't there some way to make the language filter optional depending on the person at the computer? I mean, its a family site, cool - but it seems kinda silly to outlaw even the sl- word and the wh- word - even the simpsons can say more racy things than on here, and thats family TV. A while back, computers had an internet "nanny" so kids couldn't access certain content - can't the filters display those words(that we all know what the are anyway) on adults computers, but not kids surfing the site (I keep seeing posts with edits and mods stepping in, and it sure seems frustrating for you guys - don't you want something like that - take the responsibility off your shoulders?

PS - Grantsdale - sig short enough?

My girlfriend has already threatened to spray paint *edited words* all over the 05 when I get one. She already knows who I'll spend more time with!

OFF TOPIC:

I find this whole language thing aggrivating myself. I didn't even realize I'd said any thing wrong and I got an IM saying "Don't bypass the language filters again." The admin had to point it out to me. I didn't even realize the word p(cat)y was bad. "Only p(cat)y's drive V6's."

Either way I went, grabbed a bar of soap and washed my mouth out.

Grantsdale - If you have concern with something you feel is unfair, and specifically with Brad, please PM him. Your "Ban Altoid" sig was not something Brad wanted to promote and condone, and so it was removed, bottom line. You need to take your gripes from the public forum, and address them to Brad.

As for suggestions as to how to handle language filters, and/or sigs please place those posts in our "Site Feedback" section.

Back to topic people.

Being the "wife" I guess I dont have to worry about my spouse getting jealous as to the time spent with her. LOL My babys is name Rae, short for Rhiannon.

Well that statement is stupid for another reason. What gives you the right to belittle someone's choice to buy a v6?

I own a V6! It was sarcasm! You can clearly see that to the left.

Actually, it wasn't brad that changed it. Try again. And also, how do you know I didn't handle it over PM first? That wasn't my point anyway, my point was the moderators and administrators need to be more consistent. Obviously you missed that. Give me one reason why "Ban Altoid." (One line, my opinion, and non intrusive) is somehow worse than 20 line of gibberish about someone's order process.

Already did. Nothing changed. Had to try again. If people say "yes thats a good idea" here, then something will change. Most people don't read that forum.

Grantsdale - I just realized your c/t is a link to the search engine - that is officially the best c/t i've ever seen!
And Jess- no offense, but, as the man suggested:

YES THAT"S A GOOD IDEA!!!!!

I'll mention it in the site feedback, but I was only aking if the language filter I mentioned was even possible

Grantsdale, you should know better than to do this with me. Stop the antics, and what I posted was on topic. No matter what you feel the moderators have set up this forum a specific way, and that means you place posts in thier proper place, or they get moved or locked.

I never said Brad changed it. Lets not start a semantics war Grantsdale. In fact, lets discontinue this little exchange publicly.

Have to thank brad for that one.

And the language filter you mentioned is possible, I've seen it on previous version of IPB, I believe the mod was released and easily accessible.

No, see you're wrong on all accounts. If the majority of forum members don't like the way things are going, there are really two possible outcomes.

1) The rules get changed
2) The rules don't get changed, the members get po'ed, and maybe they go to a different forum.

You don't run a web forum like a business. The members should have most of the say, or you won't have many members. Especially when you have PAYING customers for your website. Saying "this is the way it is" for a business is a great thing, have a policy and stick to it. But in a place where it relies on the members to run, you have to listen to them.

And no, it wasn't on topic. He was posting that his wife named his car ****, that has absolutely nothing to do with your nickname for your car. And that is not semantics, that is simple fact.

If you don't want to deal with something publicly, don't start it there.

And I don't care if I get banned for this thread, it would really just add more truth to the inconsistency I am talking about. Lock it, delete it, move it, light it on fire, do whatever you choose. You just might be surprised that people agree with what I am saying and not the mods and admins. And god forbid that happens. You might have to do LESS work because rules won't be as bad.

I'd love to take this up in the appropriate place. But without the first page of this thread, its not as easy to get the point across. And further, I did take it up there. I got a "we'll look into it" and thats it.

GrantsDale, I think sometimes you rush ahead and are not taking the information in sequence.

When I spoke of semantics, I was speaking about your sig, and you said that Brad didnt change it. Those were the semantics. I was not talking about semantics of the topic and what I said being on topic.

Secondly, this topic is about his wife naming his car. I am the wife, and I named my car. Seems to fit in pretty well. It is certianly much closer to the topic than the language filters.

Three posters expressed issues with language filters. I can assure you Brad reads the Site Feedback forum, and takes it all into account. Just because something has not been changed in your time frame does not mean it has been ignored.

I did not start griping about the administration of the forum publicly. You did. I infact asked you to not do so anymore, and was ignored. You enjoy public verbal fencing, even though it has been explained to you that the moderators nor the Administration feels that it is conducive to a positive forum environment.

I am going to ask you again, please discontinue this line of posting. If you choose to continue to this debate, I will not be responding publicly.

It's probably an uphill battle trying to convince the moderator to take down the language filters when her c/t is "a kinder, gentler TMS". Don't ban Grantsdale - listen to him - yo, ppl. - post on the site feedback (I started a new thread) the one thing I agree with Jessica on is that this doesn't really belong in this section. Apparently, we don't have to have language filters - we can say what we want (isn't that what we're supposed to be able to do in the U.S.?), but we'd need to modify the filters so us adults can speak freely - so go, post, agree with us, argue another point, or suggest another remedy, but if the filters bug you, theres a forum and a new thread to talk about it!

Since you obviously cannot comprehend what I am trying to get across, I will let you win. However, for everyone:

Signature Limit Thread. Notice no one in there (including moderators) said it was a bad idea. In fact, most supported it. Nothing changed.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=16118

Cthulhu's newly started language filter thread. Let brad know how you guys feel, he has to take that into account.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=17252

Edit: As you know, I could care less about the mods/admins opinions on me or how I post, but as someone said, I always have a point when I do post, and I believe mine was well made in this thread.
