my first car was a 1968 notch, I saw the front of the V-6 and it reminded me of mine. The gauge cluster was the final straw... I had to have one

The concept cars first got my attention, then when the first reviews of the '05 hit the mags I started to really get interested. I grew up in the muscle car hey day years, and really liked the '68-69 fastbacks, but never owned one.

Now was my chance to own a car that had the great looks, sound, performance and feel of those great classics, but with modern technology. I couldn't resist. I got on the Internet, contacted a number of dealers (and got the run around), and finally found one just the way I wanted it from a buying service (at well below MSRP). I bought it and had it delivered to a local dealer.

I love it, and so do my teenage sons who get a kick out of helping dad polish it or do the few little mods we've added.

I took it on a long road trip over the summer, the kind of trip that lets you really get to know your car, and either leaves you eager for the next trip, or questioning your automotive judgement. Well, let's just say that I'm already planing the next long road trip, this time with more twisties and mountains and stretches of road where you can open it up a bit and hear that growl and .... you get the picture.

The last time I went to my local Ford dealership to see a Mustang fastback that looked like the '05, I rode my bicycle.
The dealer had a white '67 fastback (blue interior) in the showroom - which was big enough for one car (small town).
I was making $1.12 an hour pumping gas - had to wait this long until design and my income finally matched up!

Needed a new car and didn't want to drive boring cars all my life. I checked out the Cobalt SS, then the Mustang, guess which won? The price was the clincher. Hopefully it will be here Monday so I can confirm the right decision I made.

i had 5 fox mustangs and never liked the 94-04 look, then the the 05 showed up and I wanted it more then any mustang before. + i was told i would get all kinds of free upgrades from my brother if i got a 05 since he is close with the people at MM&FF, that was enough reason for me

Was getting to the point (4 1/2 years in my Escort ZX2 - great car by the way!) where I needed something new and I had an 88 GT I always liked......

I had seen the concept and thought it was neat and interesting for sure but that was about it.

I joked around about getting a NEW 05 Mustang but the minute I saw the striped 04 show Mustang GT......

When I saw that, I went to my brother (always been a Mustang/Ford family) and said

'If it looks like THAT, I will buy one....'

And the rest is history......

I've been a Mustang fanatic since I was 16 when I got a ride in my Uncles 12 sec 69 coupe. Since then I've owned 9 Mustangs - 7 of which were '71 or older and two late models ('02 GT and my '05 GT).

Since I commute 80 miles per day in heavy traffic I had to stop driving my '66 coupe as it was impractical. I ended up buying a small pickup which I hated driving but it was much more practical. In '02 I was finally able to afford a new Mustang, which I was supposed to keep for quite some time. When the '05s came out I avoided them like the plague because I knew if I every really checked one out I would not be happy until I got one. I mean, I liked my '02 GT but it just didn't compare to driving any of the classics that I drove in the past. The '05 is like having the best of both worlds - classic styling with modern performance and reliability.

I had to bring my '02 in for service back in March and had to wait in the lobby. Unfortunately for me they had a '05 black GT in the lobby and I had a good 2 hours to check it out in detail. 2 weeks later I had my new torch red '05 GT and a crater in my bank account

All I can say is that its the first time in my life that I actually enjoy commuting 2 1/2 hours per day

1) Been a mustang fan for years, but never thought they were practical enough or good enough quality enough to trade my Audi in on it (interior quality, material quality)

2) Always drooled over big V8s and RWD

3) Finally could afford it thanks to good offer on my old car, and excellent price from dealer (plus, insurance on the 5 year old audi = brand new mustang?!)

4) Came close to an '03 Sonic Blue coupe but saw the concept car and knew I had to wait

5) Didn't want to look back on my youth and think that I wasted my time being practical

I love the quality, materials, design, power, nostalgia, value and "stand-out-ness" of the mustang. life is for living, not wasting away in a Corolla.

I know once I get my car (some time this week!!!!) that I'll never look back or regret my decision, even when I'm sliding around in the winter cursing the lack of Quattro. hehehe

Been a Mustang fan since I was three years old and got a big red toy '66 fastback for Christmas.

Never could afford one til now, and when I saw the '05 I told the Wife that since the Jeep was paid for and I don't buy a lot for meself, I was going to get a new GT.

To my shock, she said that was fine, it's a nice looking car and we can afford it!

And now that I've been driving it every day since the end of May, I find it's the perfect car. It's beautiful, it's American, rear wheel drive with a 300hp V8, with a 5-Star safety rating and gets nearly 30mpg if I do my part.

What more could a growing boy want?

My reasons are similar to everyone's above. My dad's been a car nut and mechanic by trade for over 30 years. The first new car he ever purchased was a '70 Nova SS. That eventually became my first car. A few years later we sold it due to mechanical problems. I've been driving it's "replacement" (hardly) for about 9 years and its time for that car to go.

I started looking around about 2 yrs ago. New cars in my price range didn't really appeal to me. I always wanted a classic musclecar back in the garage. I had looked at restoring an older classic, but for daily driving that just wasn't going to be practical. (Airbags and anti-lock brakes and better fuel efficiency are nice facets of modern technology, I must say.)

Then I stumbled upon the concept. I thought "Now we're talking! Are they actually going to build that? If so I'm on board!" My only worry was price - if I could actually afford it. Waited patiently for production info and just gradually kept interest, until I just about was dying to get one. I test drove a few last year as they first came out, rented V6's from Hertz here and there, too, just to bide time while my wallet and preferred '06 options caught up.

Overall, the looks, the performance, the price, made in USA, RWD, the interior guages... timing - everything just fell into place. This isn't just a car, this is a machine, an engineering and artistic marvel - something to enjoy driving. You won't catch me talking on the phone (not that you would before) in this car. Placed my '06 GT order in June and expecting delivery early Nov. Can't wait to turn the key and ram on the gas..I'll be 16 all over again. Wife and I are planning for our first child next year so this will be my last hurrah for a long, long time. Ford marketing has me pegged - I'm starting my mid-life crisis early... real early.

Hit the big 4-0 this year. My toys were slowly going bye bye. 2 year old twins and a 1 year old at home. I became Mr. mom x3. When the F-150 turned into a minivan, my ********* started receding back up and I started sleeping in the fetal position. The other day when I was getting ready for the zaino treatment, my 2 year old son walked up to my car. He put his hand on the rear tire and said "that is a beautiful tire daddy" I almost wet myself from laughing. Anyway.... I just wanted a kicka@# car again, and this is it. The first time I saw one I knew it was just a matter of time. The end.....

I have always wanted a classic 1968 mustang but have never got one. I owned a 1981 Mustang Ghia in High School and College and loved that and drove it until the wheels fell off.

Since then I have wanted to get another pony, the time was finally right so I did.
