who's waiting for a SE !
#22
ditto here too, $30-ish SE model of some sort for me (prefer Shelby or Boss, or a hot Bullitt), but will wait till 2006, if that's what it takes.
Meantime, I'll whet my appetite at SEMA in early Nov....
Btw, does anyone have any further estimates on Cobra pricing? Will it be under or over $40K?

I am going to try and hold out for an SE or Cobra.
But, I'll give in and buy a GT if I don't hear any info by next spring.

First off, forget about a vert Mach1, you'll never get to live long enough to see one....secondo, the Mach1 will still have a shaker hood, cuz that how it's gotta be. Also Ford has made a recessed area in the factory hood for that shaker to go through.....

My thinking is to buy a GT now, trade it in on a Mach next year or whenever they build it and then in '06 (and if the money's there) buy a Cobra and then have a Mach/SE and a Cobra.
Either way, with the SE's being so iffy, I'm probably not going to wait and see at this point unless some definite news comes soon regarding dates and specifics. I really don't see that happening any time soon.
And with the GT's looking so awesome, I would be happy beyond belief just to have one of them RIGHT NOW!

Dan,
remember what George (1Bullitt) said once,
The '05 GT is like having an S/E. You get performance on par with a Mach1, handling like a bullitt and styling that is better than either. (paraphrased)
I think with the new model, you will be getting looks even if you are driving a V6.

..............but it ain't a special edition, it will be a regular GT, i'm not saying that the GT isn't going to be a great car, all i'm saying is i wanted something different, with improved performance, and not having to mess around with mods, i want to keep it stock from Ford, so it retains a good resale value as well as being a collectible...Of course if i have to wait 2 years for a SE, i might be tempted to get a GT and start putting money on mods like wheels, exhaust......but, that's not what i want to do in the first place......We'll see what happens....I'll tell you one thing Steve.....If Ford would have kept the original concept has their production car, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.....I guess i'm just a bit disappointed in the production model....that's it...oh well....

Get the GT now. Remember the spring edition in 99? Stripes and a couple of cosmetic changes (Like everyone's saying)
5 years later, and you hardly notice them.

Did someone refer to a 30ish Shelby? Is that realistic? I would think slapping his name on a stock GT would push it up over 30k. He's over 80 now, and won't be around forever. Whatever project he works on next could be his last, and everyone knows that paintings don't become works of art until the painter dies. His accomplishments have been art right off the drawing board, so I would think a Shelby Mustang would be pure gold, and not attainable for that kind of price. If they're limited in production, as they are certainly going to be, then they'll go for even more. I wouldn't expect a Shelby to be had for under $40k. I would love to be wrong, however, and would consider desperate measures to get one. Chance of a lifetime... :worship:

As for me, I'm gonna have to wait a couple years. Still in college and paying off the 6. Probably will drop some $$ for some mods in her in the meantime though. As for the SE.....Ford wll probably have some kind of SE after the cobra debuts in 06/07. Hopefully, between now and then, they will come out with some kind of limited production car (i.e. bullitt
) that i based on the GT.
