Who would buy a raffle ticket to win a 05 Mustang?
Still nothing concrete from a lawyer except that it would be illegal for me to hold a raffle myself... which I pretty much knew already. Still trying to find a lawyer willing to help me by possibly finding some legal way around that. I'm also talking with a member here, Richard ("rrobello") about a way for Surfside to possibly hold the raffle for me, since they are technically a not-for-profit organization, and because laws over there in California are probably not quite as strict.
I'll post as soon as I get more info.

How about you just sell it? Trying to make more money than its worth?

The raffle idea is looking like it won't happen afterall. It's illegal for me to raffle it myself, and I haven't had any luck with getting a third-party non-profit organization to host it for me. I also have had no luck with any lawyers. So, for now I am still trying to sell it. I calculated the very least I can afford to get for it, and that is $28,500. The NADA private seller value on my car, with almost 16k miles, is $27k. If you take into account that the car has about $7k in mods, and is a one of a kind, that's not a bad deal at all. I am still trying to decide if I want to list it on eBay, because if it doesn't sell, it'll cost me close to $100 just to list it. Before I go listing it on eBay or Autotrader, I thought I'd post here with the 28.5k firm offer, and see what happens. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I know you're in a ravaged land there in Louisiana, and most people in that area probably have other things on their mind.....but it only takes one person to buy (just an idea).
As far as the eBay thing.... just be sure to describe the car to a 'T', forwards and backwards, with plenty of pics. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and just like the consigning......it only takes 1 person. Good Luck

I have been out of the loop! So you sold your children in order to keep the car?

Nope... my wife got her job back, my job got busy again, I got a second job, and FEMA finally stepped up and gave us some money. I'm actually better off now than I was before the storm. I never made an official announcement... didn't want to jinx myself. But, I've been trying to spread the word. My car is safe at home... and will b staying with me for a while. :w00t:
