My gf actually offered to donate a little money to the cause. I politely said no because I don't think that's a good idea since she's only a gf. She loves it just as much as I do.

I think it's something we all deal with.... Our significant others watching us like hawks.

It's perfectly normal, but be forwarned if it manifests itself in other areas...well then there's problems beyond just the "car"

I am single again....

I'm lucky - kind of. My wife's father was part of a pit crew, and currently owns 3 mustangs....so she pretty much grew up around them. Funny thing is we met because her father and I are in the same mustang club...

She doesnt like how much money I've put into my 05, but in the end, she doesnt really mind it. I'm not clearing out the bank acount, and we have multiple trusts and college funds set aside for my daughter so...As long as it doesnt take too much time away from her or my daughter, she is okay.

I think you need to start using a drug dealer approach. First give her a little taste of the Stang by letting her drive it a few minutes. After doing this a few times, coach her in the burnout technique. Once she does one of these, she's hooked and there's no looking back. Good luck Candyman. I have ONLY asked for Mustang stuff for my Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary for the last 2 years. I can't even remember the last gift I got that wasn't for my car.

April... when we come to Alabama in September, you and my wife need to have a talk. Maybe you can rub off on her a little bit.

If you rub off on my hubby....

I have offered up Eleanors fine driving services on several occasions....Sometimes when I am not out and about, she's just sitting in her garage anyhow....so I offer her uses to him.

Its "too small" and "impractical" For his liking......He likes tanks like the 300 and Fusion.

April, I need something to work with here... I have actually changed my cousin over from a Chevy guy to a Ford guy. But asking me to change over a Fusion guy to a Mustang guy is like asking me to part the Gulf of Mexico. I'll see what I can do though.

I believe there will be icicles dangling in Hades before he buys a mustang for himself.......Honestly.

Its never gonna happen.

I like impractical- it gives me a built in excuse not to have to haul the neighborhood brats anywhere.

Oh yes. The wife is getting a little worried. First it was the new GT, now I just purchased an 93 Lightning as a project vehicle for my son when he grows up. So now she got double the magazines, internet forums, etc. Also, I think I need a bigger porch to handle all of the daily delivery's from UPS and FedEx...

My wife was mad at me for spending WAY too much time at the auto show when the 05 was on display..actual arguements off and on for nearly a year about it...finally ordered it- then all the hours on the web...then it arrives and the carhauler crunched it starting the whole process again...then we're on vacation in florida when replacement FINALLY arrives- I pick it up after a 17 hour drive home(on her birthday no less), then I spend a week tearing it apart- she just shook her head when she came out in the garage and saw the fenders off...
I did let her drive it- we went to the mall one night and she put a few miles on the starter, did the buckin bronco a few times, burned a bit of rubber...she wouldnt admit it, but she was grinnin ear to ear...
Now its too much time on the forums, too many magazines, and the kids are always wanting to go for a ride too...I think thru all this she's been a pretty good sport, as I tend to get way too deep in anything that comes along, this car is just the latest...If I can only figure a way to justify a magnacharger and shaker(not even sure if the combo could work). Yes, I am a car junkie

I feel in love with mustangs at an early age. In 83 I almost bought one, but the insurance payments would have been more than the car payments... And I had a good driving record! Over the next few years I flirted with buying one and then the 94s came out... I HAD TO HAVE ONE! The planets alinged in 97 and I bought a Laser Red GT. It's been going on ten years now and I hope to get an 07 or 08. We'll see. As for my wife, she likes to play with my stang now and then... and she comes home with a smile!

I've never even been to a mustang site before.... What are they all about? : )
I guess I just can't help myself either. Most fun I have had in years and I count the days till the weather breaks around here and I can take it out again...Right now the streets are so white (salt) that metal starts to go before your eyes. Luckily the wife doesn't have a problem with it (except that I want to go to Bama this fall for the big show and she wants to go to california....A little tiff in the wind may soon arrive on this point but otherwise she loves it... Got numerous mags, surf all the time, have a 68 vert that is getting restored now so that is keeping the winter a little more tolerable. Yes, we should see a doctor....A horse doctor that is.... We drove a V6 rental Stang last spring, and my wife was all about me getting one. So I ordered it, and she got very frustrated with my updates on when the car would be here. The car got here, and she wanted to know how much I was going to get for it... "You're spending HOW MUCH on that???" But it's funny, the other day, she was wearing a Mustang t-shirt that she didn't tell me that she bought. I think she is really coming around now!

I researched for literally 2 years on the new style mustangs. My gf, as well as others would flip me crap all the time about "is that all you do all day?" and "where are the metal parts for your car that is going to be assembled now?" I'd further irritate them by giving them an answer to that.

But, when the car finally got here she was just as excited as I was. When she took it out for a drive, that did it. She told me how much fun the car was to drive and that it was so much faster than her camaro. When she would see herself in a reflection she practically melted into the seat.

Now she threatens to borrow it when im at work. It all works out in the end.

I hear ya! Will be picking up my GT (hopefully) this Saturday. Already have the Steeda Ultralite springs and about to pull the trigger on a set of FRPP/Borla axle-backs. Not to mention the box of Zaino, TMS car cover, Battery Tender Jr, and parking mat that either came last week or will be coming this week. Did I mention the K&N CAI? I may have to go undercover soon. Wife said, 'Don't put too much stuff on a brand new car or you'll jack it up!'

You must be a contortionist j/k

My wife started out being fully supportive of my habit. I saw the car, but it "needed" stripes, her response "Oh yeah, you have to get the stripes painted on that car!"

I heard the car, but "needed" a new exhaust, her response "Oh yeah, you have to get a louder exhaust on that car!"

I drove the car, but "needed" more speed, her response "Oh yeah, you have to get more HP on that car!"

Now however, she thinks I'm overboard. The other day when my Saleen short shift adapter arrived, she called me at home and asked me when it would stop..., my response "When I'm dead!"
