When the first 'retro' styled cars began to be sold, I told myself...

" Self, if a retro mustang ever gets built, we are buying one!"

Then I saw the first pictures from the auto show of that red convertible concept mustang. I drooled. I knew right then and there i would be buying it when it came out!

I just got my GT on 5/21/05. I am loving it.

I saw the Steve McQueen commercial one night, drove down to a dealership the following afternoon and ordered two days after that.

This is a great topic. I knew when I saw the Detroit show car on tv. After seeing it, I found this forum when I was searching the net for pictures and info on the '05 Mustang. That was over a year ago. I ordered mine the first day they were accepting orders... also about a year ago. And I got it in last October. I haven't been the same ever since.

I was watching TV with my wife when a segment unveiling the concept car came on about 2 years ago now. I turned to my wife and said "I'm buying that car when it comes out".

I saw it and thought it was pretty cool. However, I couldn't justify a new car. However, by Xmas, my '97 v6 started giving me transmission problems. I originally thought of replacing it with an S40, but then gave the Mustang another look. Didn't looked back.

When I first saw the concept car at the autoshow years ago I told myself "If they build something even close to that I'm buying it". Sure I wish some of the features were on the car like the one at the autoshow but I still bought it

When the '05 concept came out back in 2003 I said if they make a Mustang that looks ANYTHING like that I am buying it. I just waited and when the production car was shown at the NY auto show where I went to see it. I placed my order soon after, waited about six months for it to be built and took delivery in Nov of last year. I have been loving it ever since.

I just read the post above mine after submitting it and had to laugh at how similar it was. Haha.

I was cruising through the tv channels last fall on a Sunday afternoon and started watching a show about a performance car builder in Chicago who was challenged by ebay to buy a vintage car on ebay and turn it into a performance car. An old classic fastback was purchased, and I gradually saw each detail evolve into what we see today on the 05. I ran to the computer and looked up the 05, and knew right away it was what I wanted.

Saw a concept car at a Mustang show in 2003. Tried to see a GT at a dealership last fall with no success, finally saw one in Dec 2004 and test drove it. I was hooked. Took awhile to talk my hubby into ordering one - finally ordered Feb 21, picked her up April 14.

Similar experience - I saw the concept on TV and thought, "Now that's cool..." I was used to the concept of "vintage reissues" through my electric guitar hobby and thought some automaker could do the same by re-engineering their classic designs of the 50's and 60's. The new Beetle was a nice idea along that line, but it's not for me - I always had a thing for vintage musclecars.

I kind of forgot about the Mustang for awhile and then when I decided I should start shopping for my next vehicle (I have a '97 chevy now w/ 70K+ miles on it), that I'd check up on how that Mustang prototype was coming along. I stumbled onto this site a few months before the pre-production photos started showing up. There are design elements I like about both the concept and production cars, but the production model still looks better than any other car on the road right now and the performance was there to boot. I was sold in my mind but had to wait for my pocketbook to catch up. I am at that point now and just ordered last week.

When I saw the Concept in 2003 I Said "I gotta get me one of them". I finally got it in April 29, 2005. I am so happy I grin from ear to ear everytime I see it. BTW my wife has one too.

For me, I thought the concept was really a great looking car, but I was skeptical on what the production version would look like. I always wanted a Mustang, but wasn't a huge fan of the pre 05s (the ext. was nice, but I always hated the interior and some other things). My aunt has a 69 convertible, and I was entertaining the notion of trying to buy it from her. Well, once I started poking around I found this website, which led me to the Ford Innovation Drive. I signed up for, went there, took a test drive around the trace, and knew I had to have one. Put the Acura for sale, and once it sold, ordered my Dream Machine!

I first saw it in a 2003 hot rod mag. Thought it was pretty good looking for a Mustang. Got Curious in Jan of this year wanted to see one in person.... Thats when I was hooked 2 weeks later found the one I wanted. This is just the most enjoyable car I have ever owned.

I saw the concept when it was first shown and thought it looked nice, but it did need some tweaking. When I saw some of the first production proto-types, I new it was going to be nice. I got to see one in person when the Ford 40th anniversery show deal came to Tampa last fall, and I knew then, I had to have one. A few months later when the finacial timing was right, I ordered. I have only had it about 2&1/2 weeks and loving every minute of it and not regretting a single thing. This has got to be the coolest car I have ever had

Always liked it, pulled out of the BMW dealership after test driving a used M5 that I was going to trade my 03 vert for, there was a yellow 05 gt on the ford dealers lot I had to stop just to see it. Knew then that I HAD to have one.

I had been e-mailing Art Hyde back in 2001 about the "new" Mustang. During several exchanges of e-mails I told him what I'd like it to be (going into pretty deep detail) and he told me not to worry that I was "right on target" with the upcoming '05. It was just a matter of waiting to see the production model which only confirmed I wanted one.
