if you want a good price on a GT, unfortunately you are going to have to wait

either you wait till the demand tappers off, or you order and wait, its just the result of such a great car! Waited nearly 4 months for mine.

All I want is a Mustang GT, Premium Coupe, Grey or Blue with the UIP....
darn it. waiting stinks.

i want to trade in my pooty montecarlo, I'm never buying a GM again.

The engine was great (100,000 miles and no problems ever).

but..

1) the braking system is awfull.
2) car weighs too much for it's own good.
3) handling blows.
4) interior stinks.
5)my airconditioning dosnt' work
6) I punched my sun roof and now it's broken.
7) I punched my door and my window is broken.
8) I punched my console, and the little tray thing broke off the hinges..

OK, 6-8 are my fault, but not the rest. and I woun't even talk about the Gas mileage.

I get 250 miles per fill up ALL HIGHWAY....that's like 15.5 miles/gal ....a corvette gets better.(this is a V6 !! 1998 ls... what's with the pooty mileage)
I want my mustang...I'm sure i'll never punch the pony. :nono:

I hear you. I have been waiting since Jan for mine and hopefully the wait ends this week. But if you are going to wait for '06, I know the Mineral Grey is not offered and is replaced with Tungsten Silver ... I believe. Be that as it may, getting an '05 GT this late will be a tall order seeing as that appears to be the hot model compared to the V6. I think no matter which way you go your looking at a wait on GT orders. The only way around that would be to search around the find one on a lot somewhere within a few hundred miles.

I ordered mine way back about 12 months ago on the first day you could and got it in October, which was the first month they got to dealers. Let's just say I didn't get a great deal on it. With all that said, to get the best deal on an '05 GT, you are gonna have to wait. Probably until about 2010 when the next redesigned Mustang comes out.

Probably the best time to buy an 05 GT for the best deal is in a year or so used from someone, LOL

Other than that, good luck finding a dealer who has allotment left to still get an 05. My guess is most dealers already have their allotment sold or spoken for. I know when I picked mine up in March my dealer told me they already had orders for their remaining 05 allotment and I was lucky I came and ordered when I did.

i'm in jersey, i'm have to place 1,500 miles on it to get it up here...there goes 3,000 off the value.. lol
I'll start looking if i find one great if not i'll get the 06...nothing else i can do.
I'm in Jersey too! At least if you put 1500 miles on it, by the time you get home you can floor it since it will be nice and broken in.

My understanding is that unless it's sitting on a dealers lot all the remaining 05 GT's are spoken for and about 3000 people will have to get an 06 because they cannot build enough of the 05's GT's to keep up with demand .If you find an 05 it will be sittting on a dealer's lot so do your homework now and start searching for an honest dealer locally and go from there .There are a lot of TMS people here on the boards to help out to find you a dealer for what you are looking for in your area ....just post it and see what you get .
Good luck you will need it.

The RIGHT time, as it turns out, to purchase a GT at MSRP or below was June through December 04. If there is an 05 GT on any lot this fall I would be shocked.
This is true. I paid under MSRP for mine but I got the price locked in December of 04.

With all the hysteria over the 05's I would be willing to bet that you will not find a new 05 on the lot in September. However, you might be able to catch a low mileage used one once the 06's hit the market.

Good Luck, I hope that you find what you are looking for.

This is directly from a DEALER.....

FRANK,
unfortunately, one the mustang market is the way it is and two, this is bound brook ford not harold brooks ford. so, i am required to sell 2005 mustangs at the price required by the owners.
our pricing policy for 2005 mustangs is:
6 cylinder coupes: list
6 cylinder coupes/gt coupes $3,000 over list
gt convertibles $5,000 over list.
if you have a dealer available offering you a 2005 mustang gt at list, my advice would be to jump on it. i do not see any discounts on mustangs until at least the middle to late in the 2006 model year. also, bear in the mind the current availability of 2005 mustangs is dwindling daily. if one of the other mustangs you are looking at is equipped close to your preferred vehicle, and it is being offered at list price, unless you would prefer waiting approximately 10 months, i would purchase that vehicle today, if not sooner.
i hope this is beneficial to you in your vehicle decision making process.
please contact me if you have any additional questions.
thank you
Harold Brooks
Director of E~Commerce
Bound Brook Ford

why am I starting to think that Frank will be buying an RX-8 instead of stang this year.. lol

Those mark-ups are by greedy dealers...is that Bound Brook in Jersey? If it is, I recommend going down the road to Ditschman Flemington Ford. I got mine there. 500 under MSRP for every1, but they might have a long list. Bt they are the largest allocation in NJ. They get about 4-8 GTs a month. Mine is gunna be built June 20. I ordered Feb 19th and I was 18th on the list in line for a GT.

Yeah 202 and 31. Talk to Pete Chicarelli. He sold me mine. A real stand-up guy. Then again they are all very great guys at that dealer. Very honest. They want to treat their cusomters well so they will come back for more cars over time.

Here's the number for the place if you wanna call and find out how long the list is for an '06. I tihnk they are done ordering '05s, cuz he was still unsure if i was ugnna get mine back in feb.

908-782-3673 just ask for Chicarelli

Lets see, you want one of ( if not ) the most desirable cars to come out of detroit is the past 20 years and you want the dealer to cut you a deal instead of selling it to the next guy/gal who will be willing to pay a few grand over sticker....

If you can pull that off, I hope you are in sales, because you would be an expert at it...

I think that fuss will die down over the new GT as soon as the Cobra is avaliable about this time next year. Then the GT's will be in far less demand then and you might get a better deal...

As for now, you have to pay to play....

P.S. If you are under 6' tall, take a look at the Mazdaspeed Miatas. I do not know why, but the new turbo models are selling for $10K "Under" mspr. I saw a brand new one loaded with every option for 20K. ( by the way there are no Autos, in the mazdaspeed models ) Not as fast as the mustang, but a blast to drive none the less for 20K new....

At least you did not go "Elvis" on it and put bullet holes in the fender like he did with his Pantera. It sold for more at an auction because he shot it...still had the holes .

Call around...somebody will be glad to sell at MSRP.Try them on the last day of the month when all the salepeople are under quota. That is a good time for x-plan as well. Better yet ,save yourself the hassle and use the internet unless you enjoy hanging out with car salesmen for hours and getting jerked around.

Hmmm - if you have to wait tooo long for the new GT your Monte Carlo is going to be punched to death from all your frustration!!

I'd try some of the southern dealers as recommended earlier here. One-way plane tix to Fla are fairly reasonable and you'll have a great ride home! Take it over the twisty-curvy Skyline Drive in June and you'll be lovin it!!
