Hi all,

I'm buying a GT coupe (not convertible) this summer, but I don't want to pay an 8,000$ mark up on it. I heard that if I oder around the end of July i should be able to get better deals as the new models start to roll in. Now i'm sure this is true, BUT I rarely see any GT's actually I hear that they are on back oder.

So my question is... will there be any GT's left over in July for decent deals on them?

I'm basically looking to spend actual manufactures price, not $32,000 for a $25,000 car..

Any tips at all would be greatly appriciated...

also, what options do u all suggest ? i like the interior upgrade package, and i'm debating on the shaker 1000, but I think i rather build my own system.

At this point it seems that IF and that is a big IF you can find one whatever price you can get it at is a good deal. I can oly find 2 GT's in dallas(I havent looked TOO hard though)

Good Luck, I would love to find one myself in aug but I am pretty sure I will be waiting for the 06's as the 05's are pretty much gone(GT anyway)

You might be able to get a GT for under sticker in Sept. That's when I believe the 06 will start to hit lots. With that said you might just want to shop dealers and find one that doesn't mark the car up so much. They are out there.

thanks bud. I got that same feeling. I hope i'm wrong though. I find it pretty lame that they aren't making the GT anymore... I can't see how placing an 8,000 mark up and only selling 10,000 is better than no mark up and selling 20,000....

You won't be able to order one in July. They stop excepting orders mid June. Plus all the '05s coming in are pre-ordered. So unless someone doesnt want the one he/she ordred, there won't be any '05s on the lots this summer. Not like past years where they would have left overs from the year. Better look at the lots down in Florida before they are gone. Try Gary Yeomans Ford in Daytona Florida. They should have like 8 GTs left.

I have a few dealerships that i've already contacted. One of them was trying to sell it for me for 29,500... I probably could have talked him to 28,500 but I rather wait till the end of the summer, plus everyone knows may and june and the months where they can sell them at whatever they want due to summer time comming.

thanks for the advice.

What are you talking about. They are still making GT's and Ford isn't the one marking them up, the dealerships are. I think they are making ~60,000 GT's for this model year.

Personally, I dont beliebve there is a right time to by a 06 Mustang or any car for that matter.

From my exeprience it boils down to 2 things. One an honest dealer thats not trying to rip off a customer.

Second and most important walk in the dealer as if you are desperate to get the new Mustang. At the same time carry youreslf in the matter that you are somewhat serious but under two circumastances.

When you start talking to the dealer tell him upfront that you are willing to get a Mustang but you can live without it. Tell him that you will not pay over MSRP and also tell him what you want your payments to be for the desired lenth lenth of financing time. If he can meet your demands then he might very well have a sell otherwise you will not go on with the procces.

Now with that said, they still came back to me with a mark-up and higher payments that I had demanded. They did this about 2-3 times and I kept on saying I cannot afford what they proposed. I told them if they bring me my desired numbers we want have to play the game and I would sign the papers. Well they finally did.

This is what I did and I now own my Mustang.

Good luck to you.

The RIGHT time, as it turns out, to purchase a GT at MSRP or below was June through December 04. If there is an 05 GT on any lot this fall I would be shocked.

By end of summer, there will be NO '05 GTs available. It's hard enough for most to get one now.

If you can find one now, don't even talk about payments. Just negotiate total price. Get your own financing at your local credit union or bank. They'll be able to tell you what your payments will be on the amount financed and the terms.

My guess is MSRP will be the best you'll be able to do, IF YOU CAN FIND ONE.

Not to hype them, but Brandon Ford has LOTS of 05s on the lot, including GTs, Roushes, etc.

I doubt their lot will be empty anytime soon. They also won't be discounting them though. BUT - they aren't marked up at $8k over MSRP either.

If you are ever going to find an 05 at a discount, it'll be a demo model up for sale once the 06s hit the lot.

I would say you'd be lucky to get an 05GT at sticker, if at all. Maybe this fall when the 06GTs hit the lots and the cold weather kicks in, you might find a dealer wanting to deal on an early 06 before the end of 2005, but that's a guess. I would try to find an X-plan pin (sometimes people on Mustang boards are willing to let you use theirs) and order an 06GT to your exact spec's.

As far as your other question, I would stay away from the Shaker 1000. That kind of money is ridiculous for what you get over the 500. Now, I think the 500 is worth it, and the IUP really makes the interior. IF you also want leather seats, order the Premium. Also consider the 18" wheels if you're ordering an 06.

Good Luck, let us know how your quest goes!

Frank, it all depends on how the car is optioned out, in regards to price. I paid MSRP of $28,400 for mine (GT...IUP...ICAP....Automatic....Active Anti-Theft....Upgrade Wheels....Shaker 500), so depending on what the car has, the $29,500 might not be such a bad price this late in the game.

I don't want to wait... I want my stang...why must I wait 2 months :bang: :bang: :bang:

All I want is a Mustang GT, Premium Coupe, Grey or Blue with the UIP....

darn it. waiting stinks.

i want to trade in my pooty montecarlo, I'm never buying a GM again.

The engine was great (100,000 miles and no problems ever).

but..

1) the braking system is awfull.
2) car weighs too much for it's own good.
3) handling blows.
4) interior stinks.
5)my airconditioning dosnt' work
6) I punched my sun roof and now it's broken.
7) I punched my door and my window is broken.
8) I punched my console, and the little tray thing broke off the hinges..

OK, 6-8 are my fault, but not the rest. and I woun't even talk about the Gas mileage.

I get 250 miles per fill up ALL HIGHWAY....that's like 15.5 miles/gal ....a corvette gets better.(this is a V6 !! 1998 ls... what's with the pooty mileage)

I want my mustang...I'm sure i'll never punch the pony. :nono:
