What year for fold down rear seats??

I tried a search but didn't see anything off-hand.
Just wondering what year fold down rear seats were available. I saw a 2009 coupe on ebay that had them. Was it a coupe vs convertible thing too?? I haven't found any latches on my '07 'vert unless I'm missing something.

The rear seats in the vert have never folded down.

the rear seats in the 05-09 coupes for sure flip down. but its not like the 67 fastback i had that the seats actually made a floor and it was open all the way to the rear. made for a nice looking 2 seater. being able to feed something through has come in really handy putting something long into the car. or a full size tire just makes it through.

Correct. All coupes 05-09 have folding seat backs. convertibles do not have this feature because the space the top folds down into is between the seat back and the trunk.

This. They've had folding seats even before 05. But there's no point in the verts having them, since they would just fold down into the space for the top. And I'm sure some idiots would try to store stuff in there...

I appreciate the quick responses. Thanks! I was hoping in a way that I was missing something.
I'm a little spoiled with my Trans Am 'vert since the seats do fold down. The top is completely protected when it is down. Like mentioned above, the storage and flat surface is a bonus.

Hi NC07GTCS,

I checked on this for you and found the rear fold down seats go back to 2003 (as far as I can check), but only on the coupes. As Getportfolio mentioned, they were not available in the convertibles.

There might be a rear seat delete kit for your vert if you don't use the rear seats and want a flat surface back there or something. I'm not sure if they make a kit for verts or not.

This place carries rear seat deletes for verts, but they are not cheap. I also think you need something to cover up the shoulder seat belt attachment points as it looks unfinished.

Convertible Rear seat delete

Just as a possible... there would be very little to putting in fold down seats in the '05 and up convertible, if you just hadda do it. I did it in my '66 Mustang with '88 Mustang coupe seats. Get the seats, and the three brackets that allow the folding, and mount the upper latch bars... or not. I chose not to, they stayed up due to the wedging between the quarter panels back there and themselves.

A drill and 6 sheet metal screws later, modern fold down seats in a '66 coupe. Tada!

So... there's nothing saying that if you wanted them to fold down, they could. Whether they'd be USEFUL or not... well.. I'm not real sure 'bout that.

I would like to be able to fold my vert rear seats so that anything I put back there has no chance to punture or damage the leather seat surface. Would make traveling to my pistol competitions way better

Wow! Five (5) years!

I mean, I don't think that's the record 'round here, I think I caught a 7 year old one somewhere in these forums... but still!

Every time I go to the Classified section I’m amazed at how few things there are for sale. Other types of sites I’m on, items are constantly being posted
