what is the oblong thing next to the auto shifter

its small and on the right side

at first i thought it was T/C but then in a pic that i saw T/C is up by the Hazzards

lol...no to the right side

its small...like 1/2" x 1/4" and looks like its a cover for something (like it pops off) i have the IUP if that matters

its a shift unlock. it in the manual. if your shifter gets stuck for some odd reason you pop that cover off and stick your key in the hole beneath it, unlocking the shifter.

That is a cover that comes off to a place to insert the key to unlock the transmission if for some reason you can not start the car and use the normal break shift interlock feature. Ie the engine has been taken out and the car needs to be moved off a lift or that kind of thing it allows one to put the car into neutral.
