What to Mod First?

Just got my 07 GT, what the hell do I do to it now? Looking for the basics most people do withoug spending a ton of money.

Also is there any links or stickies that can help me with this?

Having recently been in the same situation, my vote would be GTA axle back mufflers.

I'd say lower the car for a more aggressive stance and better handling: sport springs and Tokico shocks/struts would be my vote-- git er done for under $900 installed.

The GTA axle-backs are a nice second (and cheaper) choice.

I say a pypes h-pipe and frpp/borla stiner mufflers. Your car will sound great, and add a little performance

Cosmetics:

My first mod was the Midwest Auto Gear mirror covers and was the best money ever spent, those things should be put on by Ford they look so good! $75

http://www.midwestautogear.com/index...d=46&Itemid=94

Sequential tail lights was the second mod... went on not too long after the mirror covers. $169

http://www.webelectricproducts.com/

I finally put on hood struts this weekend, I got the CDC ones and got the brackets powder coated, they are the same as the MRT ones as far as I can tell, one is black powder coated and the other the raw stainless steel. Around $100.

Performance:

GTA mufflers are nice, either with the stock H-pipe or the FRPP X-pipe. No drone, not bad on cost, not particularily loud. Around $270 for the mufflers and $130 for the x-pipe.

CAI and tune. JLT2 and C&L Street appear to be the most popular intakes. Around $550-650 with a tuner and 3 tunes.

What to do first?

I think my first thing would be to decide which direction you want to go. Are you looking for retro muscle car look? Shelby look? Ultramodern? Once you have that, it is easier to make choices in direction. As you see from my signature, I went the retro Mach 1 theme. I have future mods of wheels and perhaps a KB supercharger but my next toy will be a CAI with a Bamachips tune. I can't lower mine (or add front spoiler for that matter) since I live on a gravel road and this is a daily driver for me.

Good luck and have fun!

Mirror covers are a must-do!

And the factory engine cover if you don't have it already. You can also chop the antenna down

In time, depending on the budget:

1. CAI and tune to wake up the beast.
2. Exhaust to clear its throat.
3. Lowering springs.
4. Any appearance mods you like. Midwest AutoGear, MGW and Silverhorse Racing are my favorite top 3 manufacturers.

First things first: JLT CAI and tune from Doug at Bamma Chips. You'll love the difference in performance and all for less than $600.00.

Get the CAI / tune combo first, then get an axle back.

The looks / lowering stuff can come later if you wish. It depends upon whether you want performance or looks to come first?

Personally I wouldn't lower the car unless you are really in to adding adjustable panhard bars, fixing your suspension geometry, UCLs, etc... IMHO too much effort for only 1" or so of difference. (shrug)

(of course you are talking to a guy that pi**ed away approximately $3500 on HIDs and a NAV system... )

If you have a manual tranny, I'd recommend something like the Steeda urethane shifter bushings ($23 shipped) to tighen up the mechanism or maybe a sport shifter.

After that, I'd get the CAI and tune.

The newest 07s seem to be coming with a heck of a shifter already. I was going to jump on a CAI, but wanted it fully broken in and a couple trips to the track with no perf mods first so I know where I stood with a stock car.

3. Lowering springs. (Eibach Pro Springs is the basic standard)

4. FRPP 4.10 gears for an added kick to the rear.

5. A SUPERCHARGER!!!

This will probably be my next mod not sure which one to go with yet? My first mod was a set of Flowmaster AT's.

I have the tint appointment on Saturday and Doug has my order for the JLT and XCAL Race tunes...Get these two first. Exhaust and window louvers are next...That is what I am doing...Not too expensive for what you get...

I agree 100%. Making changes without understanding what in the stock apperance or performance category is unappealing to you can lead to a bunch of parts that don't function together.
