OK, so let's say you order an 05 Mustang in May, plunk down your $500 and it comes to you in the first shipment of Mustangs.

Will the out-the-door price be the MSRP? I understand there might be a delivery fee of sorts, but can the dealer up the price on a car you placed an order for?

It has been said (and I agree!) that you should not pay more than the MSRP (no matter how excited you are and how many years you've waitied for a brand new Mustang). But it would be such a huge bummer to leave the car you've been waiting for on the lot because of dealer mark-up.

Any thoughts? Kevin??

Make the deal when you order. Get it in writing. The only thing that doesn't apply would be rebates. they are only good when the car is delivered. this obviously doesn't apply to this car now, but, say the rebate is offered when you order, if it expires before delivery, you don't get it.

A guy I work with went out to our local dealership to ask about ordering his new Mustang. The salesman wasn't aware of the ordering dates and such, so he called Ford up in Detroit. They told the salesman that the order date was June 16. Is anyone aware of a change, or is our salesman giving the guy I work with a run-around?

Thanks for your help guys.

Jerad

I work at a transmission plant in Ohio and we were told they are not going to start making the 05 Stangs until September. May would seem like it would be too early to order but I could be wrong. I can hardly wait to get mine. I'm not sure if I want to hold out for the convertible in early 2005 or just get the coupe this fall.

Ford has said since NAIAS that Job 1 date is Sept 7. I just don't understand why there is still all this confusion and doubt.

I think people are confusing the offical ordering date, with the Job 1 date. Two totally different dates. Ford is probably allowing orders to go in in May so that they can continue Hype for a car that is going to miss the entire summer. People can still order a mustang in the summer it just wont get to them until fall. On a side note. Why is the new stang such a late entry? Surely ford must have originally intended it to release for summer. They seem to be coming in rather late for a RWD sports car. I know usual release for the next model year is fall, but I would have thought sales would be better if it released in, say, June or july.
