What do you guys think?

My father has the opportunity to purchase a new Roush 427R from a local dealer, with an asking price of approx. $41,000. Now I am sure he will get the price down a bit but nothing significant; my father has been discussing w/ me whether it is a good investment or not. Now this car would not be a daily driver, so my question is what do you guys think? Good investment? Will it hold its value? Any opinions appreciated.

Not a good investment, won't hold its value.

Well I don't know how old your father is but it might be a good investment down the road for you.

Cars in general are not a good investment unless of course you're swimming with the likes of folks capable of going to Barrett-Jackson and BUYING cars. Those cars appreciate like wild fire in most cases. Something like this, it will take a looooong time. If the only reason is investment, and it would be a DD, I'd say no.

They're not all that limited and I'm not sure they're super popular, so I'd say no.

If he likes mustangs, tell him to buy a used 06 gt...then take the balance of the 41g he would have spent and buy BRK-B.

If he can the price down further it's a decent price for a 427R. As for "investment"...no. There had been talk aboud NADA adding book value's for Roush's but that's all it is right now..talk.

No way, Jose. Save up...find a real investment which will turn that $41,000 into $80,000, and buy a GT500KR Super Snake, which would probably turn out to be a good investment down the line (small production numbers, I assume).

It is an ivestment in terms of returning a good time, and feeling good about yourself. Financial investment...no, no, no. Enjoy, you only live once.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the advice and I have to say that I was thinking along the same lines but wanted to get someone elses opinion...

As far as waiting on a GT500KR; that is wishful thinking. I could be wrong but I don't think my father wants to spend that kind of money on a mustang first off (He is more of a luxury before performance, so if he was going to shell out that much he would buy another foreign). Plus, I would probably end up w/ it and as such would be the one reaping the benefits... Which I would not hesitate to do!

It might be an investment, but it'll take 50 years... we can already see the prices that used GT500 are going outta door.
