Sold it for more than you paid? A new car purchase is normally the furthest thing from an investment We are living in Bizzaro World. But nothing is normal about the new mustang.

Yeah...I had to snap it up...I figured by this point my V6 would have topped out around 18K, but I got lucky and took the $...maybe by 07 Ford will have the bugs worked out including the paint....my 05 Dakota is black and it's paint will rival it's Daimler cousins Mercedes...

by the way....if you have a GT and bought it right...consider selling it and making a nice tidy profit! This sellers market won't be around much longer!!!!

It's a term used for a subtle bump on the paint, which accordingly kind of looks like an orange peel.

Generally with black cars it's more noticeable than with others and usually the peel is on the side of the car because it's harder for them to paint it thicker on the side without it running.

But that's the thing with black... it probably looks better than most other colors... but it takes a lot more work to keep clean and every little imperfection in the paint will show.

Easy bro... didn't say anything about what car had it or not. I was just trying to explain to Daniel what "orange peel" was.

Hopefully when I get mine it won't have it... fingers crossed

I can't say I would not sell mine. It would have to be $30k before I would seriously conisder it. Now, if a dealer inquires about buying it... hmmm... $33k.

That's funny. I did just the opposite. I sold my '65 fastback just after I bought my '05. The '05 was finally a car that I could get "attached" to like my '65. It turns almost as many heads as the '65, it's faster, rides better, more reliable, etc.
I'll always miss the '65 (My first Mustang and had it for 16 years) but the '05 does a great job of easing the pain.
It's easier to let go when you got the GT. But rex, I can understand why the V6 wouldn't be as fun as the '65. No regrets. You gotta do what ya gotta do. I'd take a '65 over an '05 V6 anyday. Now, my GT... that's another story.

No crystal ball needed, this is Ford and a 20-30K car......You want an awesome paint job, buy a Lexus or Mercedes, you pay for what you get......Look at an 05 King Ranch F350 Dually at 55K, same orange peel paint job. great paint takes time, time is money, that is why we can afford a Mustang.

Unfortunately, it will be there. I have the Torch Red, and it is there, but not bad at all. I happen to think the paint job looks great. If I wanted and could afford a super paint job, I would take my spare change and purchase a new ferrari. Unfortunately, I'm a little short on the spare change

Well that's a shame if it's the case. My '91 doesn't have orange peel... oh well

exactly! the 05's shouldn't have it either! These people that justify the paint job by saying it's because of the fact that it's a 20-30K car are spreading over the orange peel.

Yeah I absolutely agree. A factory paint job, at least in my experience, generally is pretty good. Not as good perhaps as a custom paint job, but certainly without noticeable flaws.

Perhaps they spent the money elsewhere in the car? I don't know but it's definately disappointing
