We'll That's Out of My System...Sold My 05
Sold my 05 today...no complaints...very good car...but...it just wasn't as much fun as my 65 pony....a true classic....and the car I want to drive in nice weather....On the other hand I drove the 05 for 3 months and put around 2000 miles on it and sold it for $625. more than I had paid so it was a very good experience and one I might do again in 07 or so...
I've actually thought about selling mine just to make some money, and well, have all that money back for a house, but . . . I just love the car too much. Enjoy the '65, and another luck person gets an '05.
Sad day Rex, my condolences.
I was at a dealer today and they had a used GT there for $10000 - not a typo - over original MSRP!
Oh well, enjoy that 65, take the money and save it for the Shelby

Yeah I can only dream I guess, of owning two classics, that is. I have always dreamed of owning a 68 GT and building it up sort of custom. When I finally was able to start looking at buying myself a new car, and waiting for my new 05, I had tought about maybe taking the 26k and buying a clean classic 68GT and then modding as I drove it. But I wanted a new car and needed a dependable daily driver. So I still dream of owning a 68 some day, but the more I drive my 05, the more I feel satisfied, and if I never own another Musatng , I can be happy with the one Ive got.
That's funny. I did just the opposite. I sold my '65 fastback just after I bought my '05. The '05 was finally a car that I could get "attached" to like my '65. It turns almost as many heads as the '65, it's faster, rides better, more reliable, etc.
I'll always miss the '65 (My first Mustang and had it for 16 years) but the '05 does a great job of easing the pain.

I'm selling mine while the market is good, the only other two for sale around here are $33,000 USED, so im trying to sell mine for $31,000 locally or $27,000 online. Im going back to a 03/04 Cobra which I owned before this car. I love the 05 so much, and it's a much superior car, but I miss the Cobra so much (not to mention factory 6 speed, forged motor and blower) that im going that route.

Next time get a GT...you won't think your 65 is more fun to drive then...

Don't be offended.
I don't understand why you would want to sell your '05.
Did you not realize that these are 2 totally different cars?
Were you intending to get rid of the '65 and the '05 just isn't what you expected?
I have a '66 and I expected these cars to be totally different which they are.
I find them both very fun, but for very different reasons.
I do respect your appreciation for the classics. I just think your decision making either in the purchasing the car in the first place, or selling after 3 months is rather odd.
Good luck.

To answer some questions...
My daily driver is a 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with a 4.7 Magnum V8. Great truck!
My 2005 pony is/was a very good car..V6 was pretty good, but yeah next time I'll get a V8...hopefully by 07 they will offer the V8 in a couple of variations.....I sold my 05 now because I think if I waited a few more months I would have taken a real beating on depreciation...so when this offer came along I snapped it up...

I hear you Rex. My car should have the color renamed from "black clearcoat" to "black orangepeel".
Ford should do like other smart companies.... when you have a bug, call it a feature and charge more for it. Maybe orangepeel can become a fad.

We are living in Bizzaro World. But nothing is normal about the new mustang.
