Weird Idle RPM Up/Down... help?
Had this when I first got my Hot Rod Cams installed.
They had to adjust the tune.
Well I had a new clutch and flywheel installed and every since then it is back.
I have no idea why this would make it come back though.
It seems to happen more when the engine is cold.
Once in neutral it will move up and down a couple of hundred RPM's usually about three times then stop.
Once the engine warms up it will do it less and sometimes none.
I also notice if I rev the engine it will do it.
This issue had gone away for over three months and now all of a sudden it is back.
I took apart my CAI and looked at my butterflies in the TB and at least the front of the butterflies looked clean. I mean REALLY clean... so I did not take the whole TB off to see if it was dirty.
Do you think this is the issue?
What else could it be? I checked and I KNOW I have no vacuum leaks.
Another thing...
Can this actually HURT the car or is it just something that
can annoy you and that is it?
I really don't want to clean the TB if I don't absolutely need to.
I know we have a protective coating on our TB's and I dont want that
stuff to come off.
A guy at the dealership told me it was just the computer
trying to figure out where the idle should be at for a sec.
Then another shop told me it was just something that happens
with the Hot Rod Cams and other cams sometimes as well and it is
nothing to worry about.
Thoughts on this?
Thanks!

The throttle body might actually be a good place to start your troubleshooting. I don't think the front side of the blades actually gets very dirty, it's mostly the back side. Here's a video that will show you everything you need to know if you want to clean it:
