Water in the Door

So Ralph is down for the week at the hospital with a broken up transmission.

When I went to get my stuff out yesterday, our salesman asked if anything else was wrong.

apparently, if it rains or the neighbors sprinkler gets close when Brian opens the door, water pours out of it. It doesn't get inside the car, but when the door is opened, water pours out.

Anyone else have this happen?

Its in the shop already, so I am guessing they will fix it. Ford service already knew about it when they were told, so I suppose its common?

Have they told you what the repair consists of?

My car is never out in the elements- the other one is.
I am wondering now if I have that same problem.

I think they said it was a gasket that wasn't sealing correctly.

There are drains in the bottoms of the doors to allow water out-this can be seen when washing the vehicle. Checked OASIS for known issues. Didn't find any. I suppose if the outer belt to glass weatherstrip was not fit properly that might allow excess water into the door. Please post findings-Thanks!

Ok then I am safe.

Wash it (before water restrictions) all the time and never had water inside the door.

Can the mods combine these topics please?

The drains in the bottom of the door are on the outside of the door seal. The water I get, and it sounds like others get, is on the inside of the door seal. Water should not be getting in there.

I believe the water is getting in around the upper rear portion of the glass and is traveling down the interior edge of the door next to the latch. In then pools in the door sill area on the inside of the gasket until the door is opened. It then comes pouring out. I'l bet if those of you that have this problem look around your door seal you'll see water/soap streaks.

If my description doesn't make sense I can post pics.
