Well I guess it was only a matter of time before something semi major happened to my stang. I have read about a bunch of your misfortunes, and I guess now it is time for me to add mine to the collection.

I was driving down I95 south, and this car in front of me ran over this big piece of metal (it looked similar to that bad that is right under the bumper of a semi's trailer), and this metal piece went flying in the air and came down on the ground. I didn't have much choice in the middle of rush hour, driving about 75mph, but to run over it. I noticed what sounded like a possible flat tire and that it didn't seem to be running right, so I pulled over and checked. From what I could see it cracked/scraped the bottom of the front bumper, spider cracked the paint and gouged the drivers side lower door trim, the gouged metal where the wheel connects to the turning part of the well well. So I was going to drive it to the car dealer and have them check it out, but my girlfriend said the car was acting weird as it was idling there. I got in the car, and sure enough the rpms were fluctuating....So I figured something more serious was probably wrong. I shut it off and called the tow trucks. Well....5 hours later....sitting out there for 5 hours......I finally had it towed. Oh and I was unable to get it started again. I don't know why it wouldn't start.....I didn't notice any leaking gas, so I didn't think a line was cut.

But anyway....watch out for the flying road debris. I am assuming I will probably have to get a new bumper, new side trim, alignment, and hopefully that is it. I really hope nothing more serious happened to the engine...

Ouch. Sorry for your bad luck. I hope your repair goes smoothly and that there is no engine damage.

Really sorry about that. I drove into a lot of debris on a dark road a couple of months ago,it was a hit and run and the "hit" car was in the middle of the road with no lights on. Car parts were everywhere-I missed all the big stuff, ran over a lot of glass though. I hope you get your Stang up and running soon.I'm sure she'll be as good as new! Glad you and your GF are OK. Keep us posted, I'm curious as to why she wouldn't start.

Thanks, yeah I will post what the damage was and why she won't start. I just hope there isn't an after affect once it is fixed. You know...one of those things you notice driving down the road one day....like a rattle that won't go away or something like that. One of those things where you go....that wasn't like that before all this happened...

I don't know, but maybe if you hit it hard enough that it shut your fuel pump down.

Sorry to hear about your problem. But wait, you said it was the rush hour and you were going about 75 mph? How do you do that? Here during the rush hour it's stop and go and when you go it's about 10 to 20 mph.

Yeah no kidding, I never would have expected it. The first tow truck wouldn't take us because he only has room for 2, and there were three of us. Plus the guy was giving me attitude from the start. "Didn't anyone at Ford Roadside Assistance ask you how many people were in the car?", he said...I was like no....

Yeah the time of day was rush hour, my stretch of road at the time was against rush hour traffic...I was on the stretch of 95S right after the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Virginia. It's stop and go here at your speeds all the time during rush hour when you are going with the traffic....unless you are HOV'ing...which is where I was trying to go...

That's my kind of Rush Hour! ha ha ha...

Talking about injuries, I picked up a pair of plyers in my rear tire today, on my way to work, AND, I didn't have the lug nut key with me! So yeah, I'm glad I found a small tire shop that happened to have a key that fit... running on my donut right now. Thank goodness for Road Hazard Certificate! $25 for a $180 tire

Man that bites. I hate highways. Last summer on my way to Toronto a piece of tire flew up in the air and hit my front bumper, chipping the paint a bit. Fortunately it hit the bumper and deflected down to the road. If it didn't it would have hit my rad and I am pretty sure it would have left a big hole in it.

Maybe when it flew under the car it crushed the fuel line??? Would explain when the engine was fluttering and then not start. Hope thats its as simple a problem as that. Sorry to hear of your misfortune and hope you back on the road soon.

It was right before the Mixing bowl, that I95S exit from 495West.

Hope it's not too much damage. This past summer (got the GT in May), I was driving to work on I-66 around Nutley Street, when a car in the lane to the left of me kicked up a rock about the size of a golf ball, which arced up, bounced off the top rim of my fender, skipped of my mirror, then hit the driver's side A-pillar.

I touched up the paint, but haven't gotten it repaired yet..........
