Wow, 3/8" of an inch. Compared to the Boyd's on my car that is a mile. If I've got an 1/8" I'm lucky.

That's real interesting. I have a 2006 GT

When did you get a 06 ? Did you get tired of not knowing if the 95 would start or not? LOL

My wheels and brakes have about .00000001 inch of clearance. I literally can only stick a credit card through that tiny area.

kc. Any word from Ford if they (FRPP) are going to make a brake upgrade similar to the Cobra or the 10 year anaversery ones. I am looking at the Baer Eradispeeds (2X) but would be willing to wait if Ford is moving in that direction. Thanks....

UPDATE!

I tested an 18" {Prototype Carroll Shelby wheel} on a 06 Sport Roush today. It locks Solid on the Front and has almost ZERO clearance on the back. Carroll Shelby wheels caught this in time for THEIR PRODUCTION wheels which are due in a couple of weeks. I feel for the Other Wheel Suppliers who had marginal clearance on the 05's. They are going to have ISSUES. I will attempt to check the wheel on an 05 very soon to see the actual difference. I have pics I will post later.

Hey Kev,
Is the lack of clearance in an area where a little hit off a die grinder will solve the issue, or is it a blatant fitment problem?

It would depend on the wheel. If it had a lot of clearance on on 05 no prob. But if it was close I do not believe grinding would be a good option.

Would a spacer be a viable option at that point, or just choose a different wheel?

A spacer is an option but I personally try not to use them. It can not be as thick as to preclude the wheel stud threads from going all the way into the lugnut. Remember this may or may not apply to that many wheels. Its just a question to ask when purchasing wheels for the 06.

What is a spacer? And are they used when the tire doesn't clear the caliper?

Anymore word on this? I ordered the Smoothie IIs before I read this, and have the rears now(18x10s), still waiting for the fronts (18x9s) to get here. I might have canceled the order, but they already shipped when I read this.

So are both (front and rear) calipers different from the 05 or just the fronts?

I tried to test fit the rear rim today and it looks really close. I didn't get a chance to spin the rim to see if it actually hits because it started raining and couldn't figure out why the wheel wouldn't spin till I put the fanblade back on and realized it was in gear. :bang: Stupid rain...

Well, I posted in another thread that the Boyd Coddington Smootie IIs def. hit the rotors in the front. I didn't get around to trying the rears yet, tho. I ordered spacers from Summit and plan on grinding down the rotors a little. We'll see how it goes in a week or two.

The engineer in me just had to say something...using my calipers at work, I found out that a credit card is, in fact, just 0.0285" thick

Not sure where I got this from, but thought I would pass it on. It has all the 2005 Mustang/GT specs.
