If you drive any car off of a cliff, you'll do the 1/4 mile in about 9 seconds. This is without nitrous or bolt-ons!

they installed exhaust system with high flow cats, swapped gears and axles, cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, installed sct ,and made some other mods to stop wheelhop, and did some weight reductions along the way.It was a 5 speed.

Little bit more info, since I already bought the mag to read the article. They swapped in 4.30 gears, Eaton carbon-fiber-clutch limited-slip, put in Moser 31-spline axles, put in Wilwood lightweight brakes, put some MT tires on, re-manufactured the remote shifter supports, swapped out basically the entire suspension, CAI, pulleys, custom tune, and exhaust mods (Bassani) like elvism said. They also ditched the rear seat. All these mods dropped the 05 Stang by 380 pounds. The mods only added in 24.7 hp and 18 torque at the wheels.

Here are the numbers they got:

baseline with stock tires: 2.13 60 foot, 13.9 ET, 101.35 MPH notes: 3,500 pounds
launch at 4,500 RPM: 1.72 60 foot, 12.61 ET, 112.13 MPH notes: after modification
launch at 6,500 RPM: 1.65 60 foot, 12.45 ET, 110.83 MPH notes: hot-lapped
backup: 1.61 60 foot, 12.31 ET, 108.43 MPH notes: hot-lapped
cooled down before run: 1.60 60 foot, 12.31 ET, 112.76 MPH notes: power shift 3,4
backup: 1.61 60 foot, 12.34 ET, 111.90 MPH
backup: 1.61 60 foot, 12.37 ET, 111.99 MPH

Not if you live your life a quarter mile at a time.

What happened to getting 25 rwhp from just the tune? If I am reading correctly, they only got 25 rwhp from a tune, exhaust, CAI, and pullies? Ouch. Looks like the suspension changes and sticky tires helped quite a lot.

If it helps your thinking any, that is RWHP, not at the motor

Bad driver or just stroking it so they could brag about a bigger improvement from their mods.

Either way you look at their not-so-good numbers from the stock GT, getting it down to 12.31 was pretty nice. I'm curious how much the MTs were the cause.

There's no doubt the MTs and the gears were the greatest contributors.

I noticed on the dyno sheet in the Hot Rod Magazine that the motor revved to 8000 RPM where it finally quit making good HP , If this is the case, the first thing everyone needs to do is loose the rev limiter.
