Kev, that's on my desktop. It has to be the best pic of the 05 to date. It will make you forget about the current car.
they make a Mustang now?

For me, the new stang IS the redesign I've been waiting for.
It's so simple and elegant in it's styling that it strikes me as the perfect "base" for any aftermarket bodyparts you might want. You could easily go in the retro direction, or the modern direction - this car will be sweet either way.

I probably won't modify mine much at all though. It'll be a V6, and the only thing I can imagine adding is some grill treatment, like the corral and bars around the pony.

But back to the original question: In one of the 05 Stang articles, J Mays said that there would NOT be ANY significant styling changes to the Mustang styling for at least 5 years. He also said that Ford will keep the new Stang fresh by bringing out a steady stream of SEs.
I guess not any "significant" styling changes means that we'll see at least
  • Concept Hood
  • Painted Mirrors
  • Stripes
  • Concept Taillights
  • 18s
  • Concept Bumper
  • etc

Do you guys think the redesigned 05 is going to be much better than the 05???? Is anyone waiting???? I would hate to buy an 05 and then 3 years later have ford come out with a car that looks better like they did when they redesigned the stang in 98.
What happens in 2008 when you are ready to buy and you hear a rumor that the next redesign will be better?

Buy now and enjoy what you have for a few years. If you like the redesign better - trade up. If not, then don't buy.

Either way, you wont miss much now if you buy a 05.

My original plan was to get an S197 Cobra. After hearing that it will not be released until mid '06, I decided to go for the '05 and maybe trade up when the time comes.

After getting down to a few months to wait, I don't think I could wait two more years without a Mustang. Plus, the truck that this will be replacing will definitely not last that long.

Everyone is right. Buy now. This style is going to be here for five years or so. So buy one, then if you like the SE's or want a cobra, this body style will still be in production, and your resale value will be a lot more than you think. People in the market for a used car always want it to look like it could be new. If you buy now, you can drive it for several years and it will still look like the ones leaving the factory. Win, win situation.

I got rid of my 2001 GT for this new 2005 Mustang! The longest I am going to wait is 2006 ( 18inch wheels, titanium silver ) or an SE Mustang.
I am lucky I have a 87 GT to fix up!

WHY WAIT 5 OR 10 YEARS FOR A MODEL CHANGE??
