Do you guys think the redesigned 05 is going to be much better than the 05???? Is anyone waiting???? I would hate to buy an 05 and then 3 years later have ford come out with a car that looks better like they did when they redesigned the stang in 98.

If you keep waiting for redesigns you're never going to get a new car. I'd say get it, be happy with it, and if they do redesign, you can either get the next generation or the one after that. I wonder if someone out that waited from '79 to '94 for that drastic redesign. If so, I wanna shake his hand for waiting that long.

Look at the time...........

94, 95, 96, 97, 98

99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04

I'd say you have this style going at least 5 years, unless it somehow becomes a total disaster a la GTO, but I don't see that happening.

05, 06, 07, 08, 09.....

With a Cobra coming out in 07, you think they would only run that model for 1 year and then change the body style. I highly doubt it.

I've been waiting since 1976 to buy another Mustang. A 1976 Mustang Cobra II will make you wait til they get it right !

Good one

I say get it now. If your into having the latest body style then 05 is your year. You'll have 5 more years of having the latest body style.

Kev, that's on my desktop. It has to be the best pic of the 05 to date. It will make you forget about the current car.

Buy one now!!! sell it when the cobra comes out. The new 2007 cobra is going to be the machine to beat. Ford will make sure that the new camaro will not hog or be in the spot light. There was an article how ford was behind budget and time on this new mustang. It was even said that for had to cut some expenses on the car. I'm sure with the big addition to hp(cobra and future GT'S) and the the time to refine cosmetics the new mustang body style will be a car that FORD will keep around awhile. Live for Today!!! Remember our friend on the other forum that isn't as licky as us.

The time is now,

if the '05 wasn't such a drastic improvment from the current model, there would be an Azure Blue Mach 1 in my driveway. That is the ONLY reason I am waiting.

I don't really care what happens in the future, because if Ford builds a Mustang I like better, I can always trade it in, if not I keep it.

This is the first all new Mustang in over 20 years, yeah Ford may tweak a cosmetic thing or two (ducktail, wheels, colors, SE's) but this body will be around for at least 5-7 years, even the GT-R uses 85% of the production car, it's very flexible.

FORD knows all too well how to stretch a platform past its preposed death. 1979 all the way to 1993 as an example.

I am not waiting for a redesign but I will wait at least one year. It usually takes
a year or so to work the bugs out. I will let someone else be the guiney pig.

Same here, I almost bought a Azure Blue Mach 1. The Mach is by far the best of all SN95 Mustangs (except maybe the 03-04 Cobra). But at the end of the day if you buy a SN-95 you're still riding around in a 25 year old platform. The 05 is going to be SO much better.

But back to the original question: In one of the 05 Stang articles, J Mays said that there would NOT be ANY significant styling changes to the Mustang styling for at least 5 years. He also said that Ford will keep the new Stang fresh by bringing out a steady stream of SEs.

Sorry I don't remember which thread has the link to that article, but I belive it is somewhere here on theMustangSource.

To have this, I will wait till doomsday. NOT happily mind you, but I will wait..

2005 Ford Mustang
Further proof that Ford has become masterful as reinterpreting its rich heritage, the next-generation Mustang looks like a rolling history lesson. Fond memories of past burnouts can't mask the thoroughly modern structure the car is based on, promising more rigidity and refinement than the current car. The chassis retains a rear live axle setup, with MacPherson struts up front. The Mustang will be offered initially with a choice of 4.0-liter/202-hp SOHC V-6 engine and 4.6-liter/300-hp SOHC V-8. A six-inch increase in wheelbase provides a much-needed interior space increase. The interior shows '60s influences with symmetrical dash segments accented with a squared arch, three-spoke steering wheel with black center hub, and defined circular gauges.
