So my dealer in Michigan told me the car should arrive in California on Monday of this week and at the dealer yesterday. I've obvioulsy waited a long time so whats a little more waiting - right? You would think that but these last few days knowing getting the car is imminent have been killer.

How long does the normal transit from Flat Rock to Cali to the dealer take? I'm sure it will be any day but at this point I'm climbing the walls.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Sounds like 2 weeks from The D to the left coast is the norm. That would make my delivery this weekend at the latest. I spoke to the dealer in LA and they just told me to keep checking back in every day after 1pm. They also told me their turn-around time to prep the car is basically overnight so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be this weekend. I haven't done much at work this week besides look at TMS and pictures of other's Tungsten verts.

This part of the wait is way worse than the long months that have already passed.

Mike,
I didn't wait for the truck, dealer let me go with a driver and picked it up at the rail yard early in the morning. Got it PDI and delevered the same day
These Mustangs are worth waiting for. Weather here in Cal has been great! Make sure you post pictues when you can.

The wait is hard. According to Kzinti, mine was built on the 26th. Shipped the 28th. Arrived by rail in Chicago the 2nd and loaded on truck. Still hasn't made it to the dealer in Wisconsin. Oh the wait is so hard. I wish I could track the truck the same way as tracking the train. Argh. By the way, my name is GiddyUpHusker on BOF. That K guy does some great work. I wish I knew how to send something his way for all his help. Anyone have an idea?

the last wait during shipping is hard...but:

I was SO obsessed over my ordered car, I was about going nuts waiting for it...finally it arrived- beautiful day, week before time change signalled end of decent weather...got to dealer, and carhauler had damaged it in the lot while unloading...just a big dent, but top of quarter...bondo time. decklid and wing needed replaced too, but thats minor. three days of greif later(I still wanted the car after waiting 3 months) I finally gave up, and said forget the whole thing...as soon as I did, I felt back to normal again, and it wasnt what seemed like a few minutes later I got a call from regional guy that said a letter I'd sent to VP at ford got thru- he said fix it...they promised another priority one build(whats odds of 2 on same order???) guaranteed delivery by christmas, ext warranty too. when second car came I was in florida- yes wait still sucked, but I learned a lesson that first time around...Its not healthy to obsess over things...I really think I just got a good smack upside the head and got the message. had I gotten that first all-important car, Id have been afraid to get it wet or dirty, let alone drive it in the winter at all. this ones not so lucky...I took fenders/rockers off to undercoat(with rollon bedliner), squirted por15 up into anything with a vertical pinchweld, letting it flow thru gaps then untaping drains to let it run out...seamsealed a lot of areas missed at the factory, and a lot of areas they simply dont seal(kept breathers/drains open), and while I probably wont drive in the slush, I have been driving everyday thats dry out although salt dust coverd roads...hopefully the car will last a bit longer with sealing, cleaning often, but I'm enjoying it every day I can. it wont last forever, neither will I, no sense putting it on a pedestal.

Dont let the car get the best of you- otherwise it could own you...just my 2 cents. Hope it arrives soon, safe and sound, but whether today or next month, it WILL be worth the wait. It is a great 'drivers car'. enjoy it

Another day and nothing- The car was supposed to be in California on Monday and at the dealer on Tuesday. Maybe I am paranoid but should I take a drive down there to see if it is just sitting there waiting to go through prep?

I can't beleive that would be the case but I would hate to think if it actually were.

Get the railcar number from the dealer. You can track it at http://c01.my.uprr.com/pet/motorVehicleTrace.jsp

If it arrived at railcar destination a couple days ago it could be at the dealer. Mine was shipped on 1/31 and is one day away from arriving at Mira Loma which is where your car will go before convoy carrier to the dealer.

At this point writing these posts has become a weird form of therapy. I called again and it did not come in today. I left a message for my dealer in Michigan asking for him to do a trace. I'm sure it will work itself out but this is definitley painful.

And the saga continues............

Per my dealer in Michigan, I was supposed to see the car on Tuesday or Wednesday of last week. I went in (to the dealer in LA) over the weekend and spoke with the fleet person who was supposed to receive it. She was a little snippy in saying, "Don't call us, we'll call you - the car is not here." (I had called her one other time a week prior just to say hello and let her know where I could be reached.)

The Michigan dealer called me today and said, "did they call you?". He was shocked to hear what she told me given the fact he did a computer trace and the car was confirmed in the system to have been delivered late last week. He (Michigan Dealer) said he spoke with the owner of his dealer and later with someone at Ford corporate in an effort to get to the bottom of everything.

I mentioned to my Michigan dealer my concern that the LA dealer might try to sell the car but he assured me that is not possible. My other fear is that I will get it later this week and it will have a lot of miles from test drives or some such thing.

My question for everyone is at what point do I refuse delivery? If there is structural damage (paint, body or interior) of any kind its a no-brainer but what if I get it and it has 50 miles with no indication that it was pulled from the line for additional quality testing. If I find anything amiss when I finally get it I will raise holy-h*ll but I would love any additional tips anyone might have. I have a feeling everything will be fine but I want to prepare for the worst case scenario.

Thanks

Isn't there anyone else at the (LA) Dealership you can talk to about your Mustang? Maybe she's already there and your Fleet Mgr doesn't know it.

I would think that your Mustang should be tagged as 'sold' during the prep at the dealership and no one allowed to test drive her. But, if it wasn't noted and some extra miles do appear, well that's up to you. Frankly, I wouldn't freak about it (unless it's some crazy excess miles). When I bought my 88 Saleen, she had 72 miles on her. It bothered me at first, but that quickly faded in the days that followed.

Now, stop reading these forums and go track her down!
