Visteon Helps Ford Launch 2005 Mustang With Updated Interior, Robust Sound System and Enhanced Comfort

The article is small, but it does have a few bits that I do not recall reading before.

Wow, did Ford design anything on this car? Outsourcing seems to be "the way" nowadays.

Visteon is a "spin off" from Ford. They did it so they could sell parts to other auto manufacturers I think. They did it in '97 or '98 if I remember correctly.

just to clarify something, that article says theres integrated subwoofers in the doors, so does that mean that the shaker 1000 will have 4 subs (2 in the doors and 2 in the trunk)?

You are correct sir... A pair of subs in the door, a pair of subs in the trunk (mounted in a pretty decent box). Then of course the standard fair of four 6" speakers. I think it's 8 speakers all said.

it actually says it's 9 speakers. we've been trying to figure out what the mystery 9th speaker is, but i don't know if that's been resolved yet.

Maybe it's a hidden tweeter?

I never did understand why they say "nine" speakers since most cars only actually have a total of 8 max. I do know on the higher-end SUV's they pack in 8 standard speakers and then the 9th, which is of course the sub in the back.

Visteon has provided climate control systems for prior generations of Mustangs, but the Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC) system on the 2005 model sets a new standard by featuring single-zone electric manual climate controls.

What is the difference? And how does it set new standards?
This will be my first mustang and I am excited about getting one.

Nah, I don't think there's a spot for a center-channel speaker... though that would be nice!

I could just be a typo.

We've seen it mentioned in so many places...I'd be surprised if it's a typo.

It's quite likely the 9th is a center on the rear dashboard (so between where the two speakers are on current Mustangs).

I think I know how there is 9 speakers... 2 on the rear deck, 2 in the floor, 2 per door, and the dual sub counts as 1
