Is Vista Blue the same as Winning Blue Metallic?
#1
Just curious if anyone who has seen Vista Blue in person can confirm or deny that it is the same color as Mazda's RX-8's and Mazda 3's "Winning Blue Metallic".
It wouldn't be the first time that Ford and Mazda have used the same color with different names. I'm pretty sure that Mazda's "Lapis Blue Metallic" is the same as "Sonic Blue".
This web page lists "Lapis Blue Metallic "as the same as "Sonic Blue" in Canada. http://www.mazda6club.com/mtarchives/faqs/000060.html
Here is a picture of an RX-8 in Winning Blue Metallic. Is this Vista Blue? The reason I ask, is that Winning Blue Metallic has been around for a year so if it's the same as Vista Blue, then I could drive down to the local Mazda dealer and see it in person.

I believe that Ford and Mazda use different codes for the same color.
Sonic Blue (US Ford) color code = SN.
Canadian Sonic Blue (Mazda) aka Lapis Blue = 25V.
If you don't believe they are the same then park a Sonic Blue Ford next to a Lapis Blue Mazda.
So the codes may not be much help.
Winning Blue Metallic 27B. Vista Blue G9.
OBTW: Mazda has a color called "Titanium Grey"

haha, man.... these color threads are getting more confusing than I could have imagined. If only you could get a color wheel from Ford like you can when you go to your local home paint manufacturer. All 500 or so colors on one wheel, with paint codes and such great names as "aged mint" or "mai tai red".

I'll be completely honest here. I really, REALLY hope that Vista Blue is the same as Winning Blue-- it is a truely AWESOME color!
I don't know what it is, but the colors that Mazda puts out seem to have a metallic sheen unrivaled by anybody. Or maybe its the curves of the body bringing in different angles of light?
Whatever it is, Mazdas have among the best paint jobs out there. It's too bad that the Yuppies who drive them only get them in silver, grey, or some other bland neutral.
BTW, Sepang Green looks a LOT better in person than it does on the Mazda website, in case anybody's interested.
