Placed order 03/18/05, Serialized 03/31/05, Build date 04/18/05. Shouldn't I have received a VIN # before a build date?

Sounds good then, my order seems to be moving through the system with good speed. Just knocked on my wood desk

I used my order # off of my VOC printout that the dealer faxed to me, as far as i know this has all the info I need to track my order.

The robot lady did not ask me for a serial # when I called , just make, year, body type, and order number or VIN.

i went from serialized to build date info on the same day. i never bothered to get the VIN from my dealer or request an updated DORA. i am not sure what knowing your VIN does for you anyway....its not like it speeds up the order process. as long as you have the dealer code, body type and order number you will be able to check status with robot lady all the way to your car being delivered.

oh... and by the way, congrats on getting a build date! have a nanner!

What good does the VIN # do you .............. I thought it was kinda important to have a VIN # to get a loan from a Credit Union/Bank.

Keep the banana :notnice:

Your dealership should have that info. I found out I was sched to be built a few days before I got my VIN, but my sales guy called me the morning he saw it. I ordered on 3/9, got pulled on 3/10, and am sched to be built next week (4/11).

I don't know if the Robot Lady tells you when it's bucked, but that's what I'm hoping to hear real soon.

I should be the one to apologize, I took your banana remark as sarcassum (sp). I'm looking to get the VIN so I can have the loan process and insurance change complete before the car shows up. I just assumed I would get that before a build date. That is why I posted the question.

There seems to be a lot of negative and sacrassic post in this board when some ask a simple question, they usually get slammed or the " use the search option you moroon" from the search option police.

If your comment was not intended in this way i am sorry

As was stated before, Serialized means you have been assigned a VIN#. The VIN# is seventeen digits. Your DORA should have the first seven digits, which will contain the body type (e.g. VHT85H 5). When you get Serialized the dealer will get the last ten. Just call and ask for it.

Be happy that you are this far along.

The automated system never told me bucked, but my dealer was able to tell me when that happened. I went from build week to shipped
