JEEZ did this ever spin off topic!
Ok, how's this - "Well done, honey. I'm so proud. Here's your graduation present..." toss her the keys.
The surprise? As she climbs in : "Oh, the payments are $500 a month and you need to call around for insurance quotes. There's food in the fridge. Me and the girls are off to Vegas for a week. Seeya!".
Everyone cool now?

When I read some of these comments.... I lose a little bit of faith in our posters...
I'm happy for the graduating girl.

use super snake's idea:
Park it next to your other car, and when you leave the restaurant and see the Stang parked next to you...start checkin it out. Leave the roof down so she can see in. I would reach my hand in to feel the seats...touch the inside and everything...then look around to see if anyone is watching, reach in and click the unlock button and sit in it! One of two things will happen 1) She'll flip out on you for sitting in someone elses car or 2) she gets the picture. Either situation is a win/win. If she understands its yours...put the keys in, give 'er a turn and let her hear the engine! If however she thinks your violating someones beautiful car, surprise her with a set of keys out of your pocket and fire up that stinker!

Once again....thanks all for wonderful ideas....and I am not in the least offended by the many comments made.....they know absolutely nothing about me, my child and our situation. Thank you so much to those that gave ideas and did not judge! I believe one of the best virtues a person can possess is the ability to be non-judgemental! I always try not to judge others either by their appearance or their economic level.....or many other things. Much less by a message left on a message board! Everyone is entitled to their opinion! Thanks again for the many wonderful and creative suggestions....doing it Sunday....I'll let you know how it goes! (those that might like to know!

)Just make sure you take a picture of your daughter with the top down and show it to us! We like to see happy new Mustang owners with their cars.

I like the idea posted about making a video for her. She probably won't have the car forever, but she will always have the video. One day, years from now, that video would mean more to her than any car ever could.

:nono: IF you reread most of the responses Boomer, jealousy had nothing to do with it. It was simply concern. What would you expect to come of a post? People have different opinions and different views on things. It's not a question of losing faith to our posters its simply an opinion and even Texasmom seems to realize that better than some others here who shall remain nameless.

If she drives to school? Let her park her old car where ever she normally does.
Then before she gets out of school:
Move her car someplace else and put a gift wrapped box with the keys in it, where she parked. Then when she opens the box and finds your card and the keys, you get to see her (video taping) excited run through the parking lot looking for the mustang that you've parked some safe.
