Well, my 05GT was almost damaged by a valet parker today.

God they make me nervous.

He almost scraped the bottom side of the car on the curb - came within millimeters i think.

Why don't they take more care !!

And who knows what happens when you're not there to watch!!

Thoughts of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" float through my mind as I eat my dinner at the restaurant.

Unfortuntely this was Beverly Hills. Yea, try to find parking your self - good luck and be prepared to hike.
valet parking.... not happening.
I won't even park in the mall parking lot.
At the grocery store I apoligize to baggers who carry out for the long walk to the end of the parking lot, but hey, 7 mos and not a scratch.

In general I don't do it, but there is this one club in Rotterdam where I go sometimes and all the valet does is park it in front of the entrance. I know the owner and he asked me this as a favor to him, he seems to like having the car there for the public to see it. And I have to admit, I like coming out of the club and seeing it parked between a couple of Ferraris

Remember that TopGear clip with the supercars in Paris? It's pretty much like that when it comes to multi-storey parkings. :notnice:

I used to love being a valet. Great high school job. Got to drive nice cars I couldn't afford. Then usually got tipped for my effort.

Never even left a scratch on one though.

oh my god, dude. about a month ago i met my sister for lunch. when i came out. my sister was walking to her car and this lady, who was hot roding my GT around nearly hit my sister. she was doing like 3,000rpm in first gear and completely missed second and went into third. thats prolly the only thing that slowed her down.
i was speachless. then she got out and ASKED for a tip.

If you guys recall my thread on the Lot Boys at dealerships and how they treat performance cars in for service or waiting for pick-up, you'll know I am not surprised by this at all.

Immaturity + not their property + fast car = abuse of power.

Anyone else telling themselves any different is just too lazy about their own car and could care less about what really happens to it. That's why most wealthjy people allow valets to park their cars - they could buy 100 Ferraris tomorrow if they wanted. What do they care if some kid barks the tires?

I avoid valets like the plague. I don't want some stranger going through my glove box and other sh**stuff or beating up my car driving it incorrectly. There have been many exposes showing these guys ripping off everything in sight. I'm sure there are plenty of honest ones, but I'm not taking those chances. I'll walk a couple blocks if I have to.

In some places finding your own parking is close to impossible. I live in Los Angeles and in some parts it's close to impossible to find parking. You almost have no choice but to use valets.

I have never used a valet, and don't expect to any time soon. The "fanciest" restaurant around this neck of the woods is the local Red Lobster!

Try finding parking in Beverly Hills on a Friday evening.

At many restaurants, there is NO self parking lot at all - just valet. Unless you want to spend an hour circling like a shark for a parking space, you're forced to valet.
