V8 Deluxe v. Premium
Not sure on 05 or 07, but the 06 Premium included the Shaker 500 & leather Aberdeen seats as standard equip over the deluxe.
Have the leather in my deluxe , but not the Shaker sound system.
You can/could get just about any combination or option when you ordered on the deluxe model as well.
Door panels & different steering wheel was included with the IUP Interior Upgrade.

If you want the leather seats AND the shaker 500, get the Premium because it is less expensive than buying the leather seats and Shaker 500 in the Deluxe (by a few hundred bux).
I didn't care for leather seating, so I went with the Deluxe.

Here is an example of a the 2005 GT Deluxe loaded vs. 2006 GT Premium coupe stripped.
The things like Deluxe standard cloth and standard stereo or Premium standard leather and standard Shaker 500 have not changed.
GT Deluxe: Cloth, standard radio (both standard)
GT Premium: Leather, Shaker 500 (both are standard)
If you buy the leather seats and shaker 500 as options with the GT Deluxe, you end up spending a few hundred dollars MORE than starting off with the GT Premium which includes both leather and the shaker 500 as standard features. Basically you're buying an extra value meal with the GT Premium versus spending more ala carte with the GT Deluxe.

When I ordered mine, I wanted cloth seats, Shaker 500, and IUP. I couldn't get the cloth interior with the Premium although the Shaker 500 was standard. So I ordered the Deluxe and got the Shaker 500 as an additional option along with the IUP.
What's nice about the Mustang is that Ford gives you the audio system, seating material, side airbags, etc as separate options, instead of as part of a big expensive options group. This allows the buyer to mix and match and better tailor the options to what they want.

The IUP/MyColor is an option on both. The best 'stripper' GT is probably a base deluxe model with the interior sport apearance package so you at least have the leather wheel, and the $100 3:55 rear end. Least expensive GT you can buy if you are trying to squeak into one. The SAP option and 3:55's are pretty much a must-do even at the minimum! There are no mechanical/performance differences 'hidden' in any of the GT models(other then the manual gear option of course).
winnah winnah chicken dinnah! Perfect answer.

The only thing I didn't like about the Sport Appearance Package was the goofy chromed pedal covers, otherwise it is very nice. The IUP is awesome except for all the shiny bling bling stuff it includes. I would have loved a trip computer, MyColor, leather steering wheel, etc... but without the chrome door handles and other fake chrome accents.
