Have a V6 Windveil on order with Anti-Lock Brakes w/Traction Control option...

I was checking into the brakes and ran across this comment in the writeup on the Ford site...

In addition to helping prevent wheel lock-up, the new system has electronic brake force distribution � a system that distributes braking power to the wheels where it can be used most effectively.

Does anyone know if the V6 with optional anti-lock/traction puts this 4-ch braking on the V6?

The Order Guide is not real clear on this...

V6 Deluxe = Brakes – power 4-wheel disc
GT Deluxe = Brakes – Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) w/Traction

Also, I was doing some calculations on max. size tires for the V6 and this is what I've come up with...



Any comments about the P235/60R-16 tires on the 7.0 x 16" wheels/rims?

Considerations:
Car total weight versus rubber on the road... #'s/sq in of rubber
Weight should be close to GT and GT has the 235 tires....

Rim width versus tire width.... 9.25" wide tire on 7" wide rims?????

Performance on the OEM tires = Looks real good!

All Ford anti-lock systems are 4 channel.

Years ago some of the trucks(and GM did this when they put ABS on just about everything), were 3 channel, meaning the fronts where one channel each wheel and the rears were together. I cant imagine a non 4-channel system anymore.

 

This is off topic for this thread but somewhat relevant. Is Ford set with the Perelli's at those dimensions for the GT? If so, they stink and will need to be upgraded in order to compensate for increased power. The old mustang had a cm on the width of the new one. This may seem **** but they don't even look good not to mention again the loss in traction.

With a 6% increase in front/rear balance to the rear, it doesnt need as much for grip. Wide tires make up for design comprimises, see a 3rd-gen RX7 TT for details. This car will run circles around any stock fox, and should dispose of sn-95 IRS cobras handilly in the turns.

Where I live, the snow traction is important... Would have had to change tires on the GT just to get thru the winter.... :notnice:

The GT Pirelli's must be the P Zero Nero M+S tires....

Ford wouldn't ship a "summer" tire to the northern states...

The tires going on the new GT stang are pirelli all-season tires, not the p zero's high performance line.

 

When I look at my original unsized image of the tire, it is the M+S. The larger text on the sidewall reads:
Pirelli
PZERO NERO
P235/55 ZR17 98W M+S

The smaller letters are difficult to read. If I had time, I would do a little processing in The Gimp and see if I could make it out too.
