I wouldn't worry at all about the V-6/GT difference on gas...... Insurance cost is a totally different animal though. My personal hit was $400 per year on the GT and that is with a flawless driving record for over 30 years and 51 years young. I'm glad with my decision.....

My insurance jumped almost $300 a month on top of what I was already paying (massachusetts ) when I went from my 95 v6 to a 2005 GT.

Well, for what it's worth here is my experience. I owned a 2006 V6 mustang. I was really happy with it when I bought it but then came the yearn for more power. I decided I would get a GT body kit and wheels from ebay for around $1100. Once that was on it looked really cool but was stock in terms of power. At that point, I realised that I needed more power to match the looks. When I actually priced up what it would take to get a V6 around the horsepower numbers I wanted (300rwhp at least), it just was not worth it to me. Especially when I could just upgrade to a V8, start out with a lot more power and not have to spend as much in mods. So I traded it in on an 05 GT, my payment went up around 100 dollars and my insurace only went up 10 dollars a month (I'm 24). It was well worth it. With a CAI and tune, the GT is far more of a beast than a V6, even with moderate mods ans it's a lot more fun. Sure, the car costs more, but cranking up a V8 mustang does make you feel a heck of a lot better than cranking up a V6. Some might disgree, but not many. So my advice is to go for it, you won't regret it. Plus they look meaner!!

Well, I've been asking myself the same thing over the last several weeks, and I finally said "YES!" since I just ordered a 2008 GT!

Here's a link to my thread, maybe something there will help?

Only you can answer to yourself if it is worth it or not, everyone has their own opinions. GT's are great cars, but many opt to go with a modded 6 and have fun as well.
