Hi guys!

I´m a 24 years old student from germany. For more than 5 years now i´m collecting AmericanMuscleCars (1/18) and had several test drives in different american cars e.g. Chevrolet Camaros (3.8, TransAm), TrailBlazer, Thaoe, Corvette (C5) and the 2002 Mustang GT.
Since my uncle had his first Firebird, i´m infected with MuscleCars.

Because of a long tradition in my family, i want to buy myself a new Mustang.

On the one hand it was really phantastic to see what Ford will offer his customers with the new Mustang. The ConceptCar was georgous. :worship:
Then i saw the first "real" Mustang and was a little bit disappointed.
Especially the rear of the car is desingned a little bit boring, i think.

Here in Germany i used to choose from several interior designs, like our Audi A6 it has. (Blue seats with nice looking wood applications and so on..)
When i look to the mustang´s cockpit possibilities, it looks to me quite boring.
Hey, this should be an exciting car! Why didn´t Ford spent more love into the details of a legendary car like the mustang it is?
(e.g. the ugly handbrake, to much plastic inside...)
Why are there no stripes available??
And and and.... :bang:

Anyway, the mustang will be my next car. I hope there will be some further options for the GT. Hopefully the Mach1 or other variants will come out soon!

Yours
Stefan from Germany!

Where's the ups? All i see are downs...

Welcome to the boards, i guess, im not much of the welcoming committee, sorry.

As far as more options, dont get your hopes up.

And the rest of the topic...i dunno are you looking for replies, or trying to start a fight? The last topic about how boring the interior was ran on for 8 pages before Boomer had to step in and throw some elbows....

It is an exciting car, im excited, half the guys are excited, and the other half is broke or waiting on SEs.

As far as stripes, after.....market. Ford cant give you everything.

Welcome, and easy on the new posts.

Welcome to the boards AmericanMuscle. I agree it's a little disappointing that some of the promoted and preproduction gimmicks didn't make it into the final version, but the car as a whole well exceeded my expectations on everything else. In fact this model is the only mustang aside from a classic that I would even consider buying because of the new focus on quality control. The 05 is a great car. Every car has it's drawbacks, but I've found that this car has so many good things going for it that the drawbacks are reduced to very minor shortcomings that hardly matter.

Although it isn't offered with multiple colors and wood trim, it is still a nice interior. Especially if you compare to the current mustang and the F-bodies (Camaro/firebird). wait to take a look at the interior in person. I have seen it, it is actually quite nice, especially the red. Wood doesn't really fit this car anyway. It is not a luxury car, it's a Muscle Car (as your name pays homeage to). Yes, older muscle cars had (fake) wood dashes, but, I think the aluminum on this one is much more muscle car like.

This is the first car that I've actually gotten excited about! I really do not like the direction that car designs are going in, and then came the 05 'Stang! WOW! They finally got it right! This car returned to everything that the Mustang stands for! (nothing against the current 'Stang) I get sick of car companies using old names on a new car design that has nothing to do with the car's heritage (ex..Malibu/Impala ).

not trying to stir up flames...just an opinion

I owned a '94 Mustang in college and when I was looking at new cars the last time I was buying back in '02, I was a bit dissapointed that the interior of the '99-'04 was the exact same as my '94. Thats the only reason I didn't buy one back then and I am glad that Ford updated the interior, I think it will look great with the red leather option, planning on putting my deposit down on Monday for a black GT with the red and black interior.

first off... welcome to the boards,

the rear of the car is pure mustang, anybody you blow by with the 300hp will automatically recognise those 3-bar taillamps... I think it looks great

The audi A6 you talk about is much more expensive than the Mustang, as a result you get more choice out of the interior color combos. Then again, I ask you to name one car in the price range of the Mustang with more interior color choices

The handbrake? I can't believe some people are so picky...

I personally think the interior is one of the classiest and nicest looking interiors out there.. it definiely reflects mustang character, and there is much less plastic than the 94-04 one.

I like the overall appearance of the interior, some things look a bit bulky, but not the designers fault. Long gone are the days of thin, spindly steering wheels thanks to having to cram an airbag in them. The metal insert on the dash is great, and I love the "eyebrows" over the instruments and glove box. I think the auto stick is rather rugged and handsome too.

My greetings to the board as well!

I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, but if you don't like the '05 get something else. I don't know what you'd pay for a new GT in Germany but for that kind of money I'm sure you can get a classic Mustang from any era you like best.

You are far from the only person on this board that doesn't like the '05 (or parts of it), but there are 40 years worth of other models that all have their fans. Get the one that turns you on.

And if you want to talk uninspiring new muscle car exteriors, visit the nearest GTO fan site!

Guten Tag und wilkomen

I probably messed up that spelling...(but than again, I aint German)

With the Int. Upgrade, the 05's interior is perhaps the best sports car interior in terms of quality I have ever seen(and I will place that next to BMWs, Porsches(ick, worst interiors ever), etc) Even the Lambo has an interior ripped from a jetta (black vinyl on top, with tan cloth on the seats and tray(though Im sure its really leather and cashmir). In any case, like I said, the 05 has the best sports car interior ever.

And just as a side note, here in the States, our car designers are just now figuring out that a sea of black or gray plastic is not that great of an asset in a car( the Japanese are still trailing on this, look at the interior on an NSX), until recently even 'luxury' car brands like Mercury (notice qoutes) used flismy plastic all over

AmericanMuscle has some point about interior quality. We have seen interior shots of mules or early production cars where the quality of the plastic is extremely horrible. Some people said that was because of the cars' pre-production status. So let's hope it'll be better with production models. Nevertheless, the hand brake remains ugly

Why are we cocerned with the appearance of the handbrake. I don't think I have bought or not bought a car based on the handbrake. Maybe they will have something for you in the aftermarket to change its appearance.

I don't think people are seeing the hand brake as a deal-breaker. It' just not the best looking feature of the car. It's weird and gangly, and kinda twisted. I don't like it, but if they don't change it, it won't stop me from getting an 05 style stang when I can.

WELCOME Stefan!

Dont worry, we were complaining about the same stuff 3 months ago, were just used to it now Dont forget this is only the begining. Wait until the non price-point sensitive ones start to materialze.

My pet peeves, outside mirrors and the handbrake. The rest I love for the price.

You cant really compare an Audi A6 to a Mustang. Audi is a luxury sporty car. Mustang is a value sports car. Ford could put in Wood Trim but it does not go well with the "aggressive" theme of the mustang. EDIT: It would also increase the price of the car.

As for the blue seats, keep in mind that a lot of people do not want to go with a somewhat "radical" interior, so ford gives us the Red along with the standard grey, near black, and tan. The extra interior options will hurt when someone is searching dealer lots because there will be less cars of each colour.

And for the stripes, it would have to be an option to keep the same mustang price range, I dont think ford would have trouble charging a lot for stripes, but when it comes to accident repair, fixing the stripes would be hard to do correctly for the average dealership, unlike vinyl stripes when they can just put on a new one. BTW, I think we will see stripes for a variant.

wow you see one S4 that often??? im in VA i might have seen 2-3 in the last 3 years! HAHA. and ford wont offer everything on the first year out. they will have to have something to draw interest each year as the new model gets older. so i am sure ford will change stripe packages/scoops/interior colors etc. to keep people coming. not to mention higher performance cars. and as for the interior..........its miles better t han the 04 Gt i own.

There are tonnes of S4s are my area. Then again I live in "New China" (Vancouver)*, so I should expect nothing less. There are so many rich Chinese immigrants here it's insane.

*I'm not being racist. It's true. Most of my friends are Asian.

Am I looking at the same car? The Audi S4 (all three versions) I see aren't even in the same class as the Mustang - never mind the price difference. That's a luxury sedan - one that kicks butt, I'm sure - but why would someone with in interest in muscle cars even bring this model into the discussion?

The GT I sat in had the brushed aluminum trim package and I thought it looked very nice. I've been in American cars that just reeked of bad plastic (I owned a Chrysler Laser for Pete's Sake) and this one isn't at all like that. And for the extra $20,000 you'd pay for an S4, there's a hella lot of mods you could do to a 'stang.

And in my opinion, it's the Audi S4 that has an uninspiring exterior, not the Mustang.

But don't listen to me, I'm just grumpy tonight.
