Yeah don't sweat it man... you like it that's what's important.

Besides there are plenty of envious people out there that will say anything to darken your day because their life isn't what they expected it to be.

I pity someone that has to actually go out of their way to try and make someone else feel bad... very very sad life they must lead... so I guess next time someone says that you could either say,

"Well I love it and that's why I bought it"

or

"I'm sorry... is your life so small and sad that you have to give me an opinion I didn't ask for?"

Of course if you asked for it... then... you asked for it... so to speak

Btw, thanks for the replies everyone.

I guess I'm just kinda upset because I love my car so much and I'm so happy and proud of it, I tell everyone I know about it...then they poo on my parade...

Ok, well pooting on my parade might be a little exaggerated, but they just aren't as impressed or excited as I would like/expect...it's just kinda a downer...=P
Are these so called friends of yours actually talking facts about Fords or is their attitude that "All dumbestics are slow pieces of crap that that can't turn or won't make it past 50k miles". I could see if someone had a valid argument against Fords then I might be upset but bs'ers, I would just ignore them and laugh. Both domestics and imports have had their problems in quality, reliability, etc. As a Ford fan I know the problems that Ford had or is having but this whole thing about the mythical reliability of imports is bs. Overstating the power of their engines, engine failure, recalls of thousands of cars and many other things that Ford and Chevy have been accused of are things that companies like Toyota, Nissan and Honda deal with as well. And we all know but don't hear about the Benz's quality falling. I like all types of cars. Just love your car, because it is what you wanted and you worked hard to get it.

I was off like a prom dress!

I've noticed tC owners act "tougher" than SRT4 owners even. At least the SRT4 is quick in stock form. What makes a tC any better than a Carolla S?

One piece of advice... "telling everyone you know about it" all the time is not the best way to continue to receive positive comments on your car.

It could be interpreted as bragging, which does not typically result in a positive reaction from most people.

I feel your pain, man. I grew up the middle class kid on a scholarship attending a high-end private high school. When it was time to get our licenses, these kids were getting brand new beamers, Porshes, Corvettes, etc. I purchased a 1991 Saturn SL2 with my own finances. I don't think they ever stopped picking on me for that, lol.

There's absolutely no way to change their attitude. They were raised to look down on anyone trying to make their up through life and earn a place for themselves. They were given a place in life, you were not. In their mind, that makes them better than you.

You bought a plastic appliance?

LOL

A Saturn?

LOL

It's real easy, I I have tons of pictures and stories about how much people love me car. I couldn't make half that stuff up I've experienced while owing my Mustang. (3 1/2 months mind you) Ask them how many people come up to talk to them about their car.

Remember it doesn't matter what other people think. If you do you'll go through life angry and never please everyone. As long as your happy that's all the matters.

exactly--i had a gaggle of 7 year olds tell me "Nice Car" as i drove by them last night, then a 50-something guy in his Chevy Silverado pull alongside me today saying "now that is a nice car"---i am taking my drop to the meechigan tailgate tomorrow, 80 and sunny! yeah!

Yesterday I had an 11 year old girl, whose dad drives a Mercedes S500, tell me, "That's the kind of car I want when I grow up." So the pre-jaded silver spoon set likes the '05 Mustang GT!

I was in our elavator today, i work in a building with nine floors. An older guy 60-65 said, how do you like your new Mustang. I told him it's the most fun car to drive i have ever owned. I have never even seen this guy before, he told me it's the best looking Mustang he had ever seen. Ya gotta love it ....

Some folks are "car crazy" in the good sense that oil, gas and grease is in their blood, others use it as a status symbol and get the latest "hot car" around. Not saying one is better or worse than the other. I had my first Mustang in 67/68 and have thought about getting another for many years. It has brought back the "joy of just driving". As far as Ford quality is concerned. As all the other companies, they have had their overall ups and downs but IMO alot has to do with how you maintain a vehicle. I have had mostly Ford products. My 92 F150 4x4, which is a daily user, has almost 205,000 on it and the engine has never been touched. The largest expense I have had was to replace the clutch at around 178,000.

Last Christmas I spent with a friends family, all of them save one are GM boys. Oh they were gunning for my car right away, asking to see the new F.O.R.D. wondering if it had broken down on me yet. They crowded around it like little school kids, wanted to see the motor and hear it running. They were searching their brand biased little minds for bad things to say about it, one of them had been bragging about his brand new $28k 250hp pontiac somthin-er-other. It was dead silence. I knew they were coveting my car, wishing GM had a offering just as cool and knowing they didn't. Finally the pontiac guy spoke up, this looks way better than the GTO but the GTO would own it at the track, which I told him, motor trend got a better 1/4 in the mustang than the 04 GTO, but don't worry the 05 will have 400 HP so it should be able to whoop it then.

Doesn't bother me if other people don't like it. Thats ok. I know almost every Mustang driver in a new edge Mustang thinks I'm a bandwagoneer also, thats fine too. I bought it for me, not for the brand, or the model, the horse power. I bought it because of the look, the sound and the way it stirs my soul and begs me to drive it.

I can't believe in Texas that attitude would be so prevalent. Unfortunately, short of kicking their , I think you should just ignore them. People are going to believe what they want to believe. Ford has had a long history of bad vehicles. The mustang has been sorry IMO since 1974. I hated all the models body stylewise from the 80's up to 04. I fell in love with the 05, and when you make cars that have as many problems as some fords did, you're going to have a reputation. It's up to us as new mustang owners to show we're above all the slamming. I'd start by smoking all their on the road.

To be candid. I personally have concerns about the long term reliability of the Mustang, but since it is sort of a Mazda vehicle and since Bill Ford has taken over the company, I have hope that Ford will start turning around its image and that the new Mustangs are so well built that they will last into the 100K mile range.

Number one you dont' own a mustang yet. 2nd don't talk about previous year models you haven't owned or know anything about. And third that type of snobbish attitude is exactly what your getting from the above mentioned owners. You are part of the problem. Have respect for the cars that made yours possible and the owners for the choices they made. Believe it or not I chose the mach after I drove the 05. Respect people choice just like I respect yours.

That was a little harsh wasn't it? I don't think he was being a jerk or anything. Unfortunately Ford has gotten a bad rap. But like he said, we need to move past that. It's funny how Ford gets sued for something the other manufacturers get away with.

This is my third Ford, and my next car may be a Ford. Or, maybe a beeter Civic (Gasp!) I love Fords, but I buy what I like and what is practical at the time.

I guess I've been lucky . . . 100% positive comments. I just got complements from a cute chick at a BK drive-through, and a women at the bank last week. I get looks constantly too, and not bad ones.

I've lost count how many kids have said they love it. I overheard one little kid a few days ago say he wanted a car like mine when he grew up.

I value a kids opinion over most anybody else. They are honest, and don't belittle something out of jelousy.

Haha, little story about a Scion Tc owner. He's a new kid at work, and one night we where hanging around after work with another guy who owns a '95 Formula vert. The Formula owner told me to light them up when I leave. So, I spun 'em pretty good, power slid it around a corner, and barked second . . . Bassani's echoing through the neighborhood. Then, the Tc owner left, and tried to be cool. Formula guy told me later it sounded like a lawnmower and was just a sad sight. This poor kid really thinks he has a fast car.

I am sorry it just brought the point to a head. I have noticed it a lot around orlando. I flip my lights and always wave at any mustang. And the only ones who don't return the favors are 05's. I run a local mustang club and I don't care if you drive a 2000 v-6. If you drive a mustang your alright with me. I started with a 99 v-6 and worked my way up to the mach. And have been proud of every one. Have I had any issues nope..... So it irks me when other people say that but it irks me more when a fellow mustang owner or in this case "future" mustang owner does it.

Sorry for the rant.

Roger

"Car guys/gals" (enthusiasts) are a unique bunch. I also believe most Mustang nuts are generally Car guys/gals, but not all by any means. Dissing any fellow "Car Guy" because they drive something different is grounds for non-car guy status. I'm a Car-guy, although I sometimes poke fun at GM styling and manufacturing decisions, I respect anyone who is really into their car, whether it’s a Saturn, a BMW, a “riced” civic or a Mustang. I’ve seen so many rich folks driving their expensive cars with little respect or care for the cars they drive…..brake-dust residue from the last two years or interiors that look like the inside of a trash can. They drive it like an appliance. They don’t respect their cars. I pity people who don’t love their cars the way most all of us do in these forums. Next time some idiot disses your ride, pity him for his jealousy, and for the fact that he is not a true Car Guy.

I've gotten dirty looks from other 05 owners and I've gotten compliments from 01 Cobra owners... It's not the car its the people driving it.

Just for clarification I didn't say all 05 owners just the ones I have run accross outside of a show or personel relationship.

yea i happen to get that too, I don't get a lot of thumbs up anymore from other 05 Mustang owners when I pass them or give them the thumbs up back. It only seems older Mustangs only do it. But I do the same in return to the older ones. Call me crazy......
