I think I'm the first person to notice this.
When upgrading to the IUP, the tach and speedometers change! I plan on getting the IUP, and this upsets me. I like the speedometer and tachometer to limit at the lowest possible values.
Why? Because then the needle moves further and faster! When I'm on the highway, I want that needle as far right as possible.
I hate driving my gf's Toyota Corolla because the Tach needle barely moved at all no matter what your RPMs are at. It's annoying!

this may sound like a really stupid response but when i was looking at it , i just automatically assumed that one was for the V6 and the 2nd one was for the GT...ut maybe maybe thats wrong....

I'm not sure but I as far as I know the IUP only adds two extra gauges and does not change the speedo. I think HorsC is right, the top is the base V6 interior. Anyone have a base V6 speedo pic?

Are the optional gages a change from previous model ?
Before all four gages were standard equipment, even on the old 4 cylinder fox body cars, or was that a canadian thing ?
Anyway I think it's pretty cheap to make those gages optional!

The picture of the "Base Instrument Cluster" shown there is the base V-6 cluster, while the picture of the "Optional Instrument Cluster" is the IUP cluster for the GT. That is a bit confusing, but they just tried to combine them and show all 4 options with only two pictures. The GT speedometer and tach are going to be the same, with or without IUP. The IUP just adds the two extra gauges there.

I hope you GT stinkers enjoy your 7-8,000 RPM and 120-140mph sections. I'm sure they'll come in handy

There's a filter on these posts. I didn't mean to say stinkers. What I actually wrote was "there's a filter for a reason...sorry

Thank you, Avalanche, for solving the mystery!
It is ironic when ricers spend $1000 on ugly body kits that actually increase drag. Same goes for dials that go up to 140mph and 8000RPM when the redline is at 5500. It looks sporty at first glance, but it actually detracts from the sportiness because the needle is more restricted!
***EDIT***
I am sorry for trying to override the system, but I really don't see how that particular word is obscene.

Yeah, the word filter on this forum is much more fascist than at many other forums. And some of the substitutions are downright funny. Oh well, it's Brad's site to do with what he chooses.

I'd rather have the needles whip around as a result of a potent motor and performance, not because of some whimpy, constrained guages. The later makes me think of a lot of GM cars with overly fast throttle linkages off idle to make the dullards think they had a faster car than they really did.

Kinda corny, but I recall another car (Corvette?) saying "WELCOME" on the digital readout when you start the engine. It's a bit Knightriderish, but who cares -- it's neat anyways...

This may be the stupidest question someone has asked so far, but would someone please tell me what a "ricer" is? Sorry, I'm getting such an education on this website, but for the life of me I cannot figure out "ricer", and I've seen it in a number of posts. (There always has to be someone you have to lead along
Thanks in advance.
