is it possible to the 3 tunes and also revert to the stock tune if gas prices decide to hit 80 bucks a quart? while keeping the 3 upgraded ones too?

Absolutely. An XCalibrator2 will store 3 custom tune files AS WELL as a stock file. There is no need to delete one of the files in order to store your stock tune. When you flash the car, it automatically copies your factory PCM settings into the XCal2 before reflashing with the performance tune.

We always reccommend purchasing the 93 Street Race tune with your XCal2 because it unlocks the full potential of what you have done. You still get a good amount of power with the rest of the tunes and would be great for daily driving. However, it's nice to be able to load in a tune to turn it into a monster.

I'm on the fence as well.... not only is it difficult to choose Brenspeed, Bama, or Tillman... but its equally as difficult to choose C&L or JLT equipment !!!

Me thinks I can't make a wrong decision though...

C&L vs. JLT is the easiest choice I think. Do you want pretty and $$$$ or do you want less pretty and $?

I don't care about pretty... I care about functional performance. There are thousands of posts on C&L vs JLT and none of them are conclusive!!

You will get very similar performance from either. If there is a difference, it is on the order of 2 HP + or -....not worth worrying about. The JLT is significantly cheaper though.

Check out this article.

yeah, I've read that article a couple times. VERY good info thank you. I've been researching and reading for a couple months regarding CAI/tuner packages. I've narrowed my choices down to C&L or JLTII and have made the decision that I can't go wrong with either one of these. The last decision I have to make is Brenspeed or Bama. Another toughie...

Both good choices. Only downside I see to Brenspeed is if you ever need an updated tune because of further upgrades (gear changes, delete plates, other perf. upgrades) he will only provide free updates if you buy the new parts from him.
Bamachips and Tillman Speed provide free updates no matter where you buy the parts.

Go with our C&L Racer and SCT XCalibrator 2 package. I GARUNTEE you will be happy with your selection. The quality, design, and durability of the intake having a straight 5 PLY SILICONE boot onto the throttle body COMBINED with our developed and tested tunes will make for a great combination.

Tillman, no offense to you and your business as I have heard some good things about you... but I have heard even more good things about Brenspeed and Bama. I'm new at this and want to stick with the two biggest names discussed in the industry. I'm sure your tunes are equally as excellent. Its not personal so please don't be offended.

91p/91t/93R, but I only use 93R. 91 tunes are for times in any states without 93. May want to do 89P/91P/93R for a little of everything. I wouldn't use 87 octane in a stock car-at least use 89 so any 'bad gas' is still above the minimum requirements. The 87 tunes do little other then remapping the throttle, they can't do much with it until its at 89 or higher.

Larmo. Is your car an Auto or manual? I just put my Steeda CAI on and also got an X3 from Bama with an 89perf, 91 Torque and 92 Race. The car is a beast now.

You can see my post/pic on Gt Perfomance and Tech Forum.

Understandable. Keep in mind we've been in business since 1979. I know about how marketing works, and word of mouth so I am not offended. We have a retail storefront which is 2000 sq ft plus 1000 sq ft storage, and an installation and tuning shop which is 3500 sq ft with our in-house Dynojet 224xLC. I think you will be pleased with any of us three (us, Bren and Bama).

EDIT: And one more thing, none of the three names listed are considered the biggest in the industry. As a matter of fact, there isn't neccessarily anyone who is the biggest in the industry. There are a few "self-proclaimed" out there (not mentioned in this thread). We all have access to the same variables, and have done just as much R&D as the next guy. As long as you go with an SCT Certified Calibrator-Status dealer with an in-house dyno, you'll be pleased with the results.

Ourselves, Bama, Brenspeed, VMP, and that's about all I would trust with my own vehicle.

Tillman- I went on your site but I dont see any CAI + Tuner combos for the v6. I know Ive seen it discussed before about people getting their CAI/Tune for their v6 from you but I dont see an option on the website. Also even under the GT ones I am only seeing the the performance and race tunes, not the torque ones. Id like to order a C&L or JLT intake with the Xcal within the next few months and would like it with 93 race, 93 torque, and 93 performance. I had originally panned to order from Bama but lately I am hearing of alot of people having problems with him and you guys (Tillman) are only about 45 mins away from me so I may just drive up to your shop and pick everything up. Thanks!

Brenspeed tune here with a C&L street. 87/91/93 tunes. The car is very responsive, chirps the tires in 2nd and 3rd (automatic). Car even picked up 2mpg fuel economy. I run the 93 tune and haven't tried the other two. I had originally planned on going with Bama but when my emails were not returned plus Brenspeed was $50 cheaper with free shipping so I ended up going with Brenspeed. I figured I could always get the Bama race tune later and still come out about the same on price. I haven't done much research on Tillman but I respect their reputation on here and their quick reponses on questions in the forums. It is nice to see a company that takes the time to talk on the forums with their customers.
