Tuned 4.6 V8 vs. stock 5.0?
Wow, that's crazy. I rented a 2012 GT before I owned my '06 and it was amazing for sure. I was just curious what to expect when I get a tuner for mine, if it was going to be comparable. Guess not! Haha.
I've always wondered how a roots charged 4.6 from the 99-04 era would fare with the stock 5.0.
Same hp, (drive train loss) guess it would come down the driver?

I went for a ride in my cousins 11 GT its what made me abandoned the stroker/turbobuild up on the 06 and trade it in on a Boss.
My boss feels just about as quick as my 96 cobra did with race ported heads big cams stroked motor and a vortech s-trim with 8# of boost....but it drives so much better everyday all day without a blower....
the new engines are nothing short but amazing and despite all the little complaints and things that come up we are truely lucky ford made this engine with all the MPG standards being forced down there throats...they could have repeated what they did in the 70's and make an turd of a V8 that makes no power...

So right now I own a 05 GT with a saleen supercharger(475hp) and it feel about the same as my 2012 GT I just sold. The fastest mustang I have owned was a 07 GT with the 550hp whipple kit. It was a beast.
long story short 4.6 SC < new 5.0

They aren't worthless. You can sell one for a down payment on this:

Yeah, that wouldn't happen unless you're rich. $400 a day really isn't that expensive considering it's about $150 to rent a GT and thousands of dollars a day to rent stuff like Ferrari's.
