I know the trunk space is very limited but this is a big issue with me in making the final decision to get a stang. I play in a band and I don't have a ton of stuff but I have a midsize amplifier that needs to fit in the trunk. Does anyone know the specs on the opening to the trunk? How wide is it? How deep? The opening?

I can fit a fender stratocaster with case + amp in with a little room to spare.

Also fits acoustic guitar with hard case + amp

Sweet..thanks for the quick reply. What kind of amp are you putting in? I popped the trunk and it looked like it would all sit in there but getting it through the opening might be my problem.

It changes with your post count. Or you can earn a custom title, or you can pay to join Team Mustang Source.

A dean ga40R or my Fender Gdec depending on what we are needing.

(do something ignorant or clever to earn a custom title)

Isn't a Gdec that little amp that plays backup music. I don't know how big your deam amp is. I have a Fender Super Reverb and a Matchless DC-30. Both larger midsize amps.

The Gdec is pretty much a POS. Total waste of $200.

The Dean amp is midsize.......Not concert sized.

A washburn guitar will NOT fit in the trunk with case. It fits in the backseat kind of though- if you lay it back there without the ginormous case it comes in.

Why not use the back seat with the backs dropped down??? I play in 2 bands and carry the following in my 05.

2-GB 2x12 cabs.
1-Marshall 50 head
1-Line 6 HD147 head
2-guitars (1 Les Paul and 1 Jackson in hardshell case)
1-pedalboard case w/misc
1-overnight bag w/misc stuff

This was a MAJOR point for me purchasing the Mustang too, and it took a little "experimenting" to get it all in, but it all fits, and the front seat is still open for a passenger. Still have room for a third guitar which is a double neck acoustic that I use from time to time. It works for me.

Hope this helps!!

Yeah..thanks Axslynger that is really helpful. Wow 2 2x12 cabinets? How big are each of those? I never would've thought that all of that stuff would fit in there. I also wanted the front open for a passenger if needed also. I used to pile all my stuff in the front of a Ford Ranger and that stunk. How big are your cabinets? Do you slide those in the back? Are you able to slide your cabinets through the trunk space. My Super Reverb is kinda tall. I could probably turn my Matchless sideways and slide it in. It's a 2x12 also. I only use one amp on a gig. I usually use my SR but sometimes it's the Matchless. I'd hate to have to load anything through the backseat. These things weigh a ton. 65 and 85 lbs. I have 3 guitars but could probably use 1 or maybe two on a gig. Thanks for the help. This would be a major issue for me in deciding weather or not to purchase a Mustang. I have an Explorer Sport right now and space is not an issue. I also have a monitor that I use but I could always buy a smaller one if I had to.

The 2 cabs are 29 1/2 wide, 20 1/2 tall and 14 deep. I do put them in through the driver door though. They wont make it in the trunk. The cabs and my 2 heads and pedalboard case go in through the driver door with the seat all the way forward. It's not really that bad. I am careful not to damage anything of course!!! The guitars and bag and any other misc stuff goes in the trunk. The 2 cabs aren't that heavy. Certainly not 85 lbs anyway. The first time I loaded all this, I had the gear 3 different ways till I found the best way.

That's what my SUV is for, my drums. I've played since I was a little kid and was my most obessed passion until the new stang arrived in my driveway, now drumming is second in line with the obsession count.

BTW, if you get the Mustang, don't get the 1000 watt shaker, or you will be at more of a loss for trunk space......

I have YET to be disappointed with my trunk space! Infact, my family and friends are amazed about what I am capable of hauling around. I have had 2 card tables, a suitcase and a computer back there! Its like alittle circus clown car... I just keep unloading, and unloading!
