your point is the same as mine. only those that race for a living care about 4 tenths. but the majority of people dont race, so its not a big deal for most people. and if you're racing with what you got from the factory, you need to rethink your stategy

Also, all times are subject to human error and track and atmospheric conditions at the time. Who the heck makes up these times anyway. MM&FF consistantly tests Mustangs versus CD and MT numbers with improvements that can equal more then 30hp or gear mods- just through sheer competence over a mainstream magazine hack. I think they beat MT with a stock GT500 by over a second in the 1/4, the same improvement you hope for by putting a $6000 supercharger on your GT...

All I know is the shifter is better by far(at least on job 2 07's). I believe the floor pan and some other parts were beefed up for the GT500 on the 07's. The only real weight adding new option would be the power passenger seat. The seat heater elements, additional nav antenna, auto dimming mirrror, aluminum shorty shift ****, and padded dash/armrests couldn't total more then 10-12lbs additional weight on a loaded 07 GT. What do you think the additional nav DVD disc adds 100lbs?

I like the center fogs on your grey car. I may have to just do that grille for the time being and spend more on brakes and suspension and do the GT500 nose later

I would be willing to bet that if you added up the added weight from all the options on my car I doubt it would even top 50 extra pounds over a 2005-2006. I also bought mine with the 3.55's.

I think the Wiki's probably used a non broken in car with a different ratio (possibly even a vert).

If true, I'll happy trade four-tenths of a second for tighter build quality and increased refinement.

Those four-tenths - and a lot more - can be made up in the aftermarket readily enough.

If I'm not mistaken, here in Canuckville, GT Premium 5-speeds automatically come with 3:55 gears.

Yeah the 07s do have extra strengthened chassis due to the gt500. So the 2007 weighs more.

The curb weight for the 07 GT remains the same. The shipping weight on the invoice is with only 1-2 gallons of gas. If you factor in a full tank of gas, the curb weight of 3450 lb for a 07 manual GT is right on the money (isn't heavier than 05-06). A fully optioned out GT/CS, on the other hand, will be heavier.

Are the strut modifications on the 2007 the reason that the 2005-2006 Roush supercharger won't work on a 2007 without this additional purchase?

http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=771

Or is it something else that is different between the 05-06s and the 07s?

I think with no mods break in will have an effect. My 05 I only had for 2500 miles so I can't say, my 06 I did not get on it enough and now with the 07 I am driving it like a rental and it seems faster than my 06. Even if it slower I am just glad it is Orange with a black interior.

Yeah. Maybe we should trade in our 07's for an 05 to gain 4/10's. I waited on an 07 because it's when I was able to get it. There's too much aftermarket to worry about ANY 10th. I'm just glad this didn't become a tired V6 vs. GT/ auto vs. stick debate..

I can't believe you are using theoretical times spewed on wikipedia by unknown drivers as any type of standard....

With repeated perfect runs every single time on a car at the exact same temperature and altitude-a .4 sec swing in its true time is more then 100hp difference in a mustang. Anything other then actual time slips by a reputable driver is stupid. Who even knows what gearset was in the car? Bleg, I'm magazine racing even reading into it...

Kevin,

You're just mad because you bought one of those "slow" 2007s.

Actually, Wikipedia is simply referencing another source: Road & Track's road test. If you follow the link from the Wiki page, you come to the R&T review, here: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=3

Or is it something else that is different between the 05-06s and the 07s?
According to an article I read in MM&FF (I think) about a Magnusson supercharger install, the 07s have a different coolant crossover piping setup compared to an 05-06, as well as some other differences in the coolant system. The Saleen supercharger requires similar add-ons in order to use their kit on an 07:

I'm not 100% sure, but I'll bet a dollar that the parts in the kits are just 05-06 parts that you swap onto your 07 to allow the standard kit to work.
