Tried to take a test drive yesterday...
Buddy of mine in Champaign went with his dad to buy a new Chrysler a couple of years ago - the salesman would not deal and my buddy called the dealer in a town about 60 miles away. The other dealer had the same car and worked a deal over the phone. Back to original dealer - with the price in hand from the competition. No deal. My buddy said, "We are going to buy a car today, either here or in Decatur." Still no deal. Off to the other dealer where the deal was made. On the way home, they stopped at the local dealer, found the salesman and sales manager and said "Told ya so." Some dealers are just ********. Leith Honda, in Raleigh, has turned into one of the most greedy "screw you" dealers. It's a shame. People will buy a car if the deal is fair. How hard is that?
I've only once been turned down for a test drive and that was for a 2006 Subaru STI. I wanted to see what the big deal was about them.
The dealer wouldn't let me test drive it.
Here's his reasoning and exactly what he said to me - Asians want the cars to have 0 on the odometer.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
