just bought a new 05, GT 5-speed manual transmission. transmission is running very loud. took it back to dealer and they agreed it was too loud. Not for sure what they are going to do about it. car only has 800 miles on it. anyone else experiencing noisy transmission in an 05 manual transmission?

 

Mine was not loud.

 

I'm really sad. I've been evaluating an '05 GT purchase since Feb-04. Had been extremely excited to order the car this Fall, despite the fact that $28,000 is an enourmous amount of money to me. I've officially shelved the purchase. There are just way too many of these disappointing stories about year 1 of the new 'stang. I realize this is an enthusiast site, and it will draw a lot of people eager to post "every little" thing. But this is just too far. It's too much and it's too many problems. And they are seemingly all over the car! Tranny, rear diff, CD player, rattles in the dash, blimished paint, strange noises, and there are more. ECU flashes needed?? Insert gas nozzle upside down to fill up?? C'mon!!

I realize 1000s of cars have been made now, and not every one has problems. I have seen the guys on this site post-in who are pleased as punch. But hope you understand how it looks now to a person considering a purchase. I really feel like it is "rolling the dice." I can't afford to roll this dice with my primary car. It just stinks to all heck that this got so messed up (better choice of words might be "unpredictable"). I am really bummed.

I've put down $1000 on a japanese brand. I have some time to reconsider, but it seems like that same old quip about poor quality and American cars is still alive and very much well. :cry:

Still, it's all quite well documented in Consumer Reports. The Mustang has very rarely been a "reliable" car. Maybe it should be shame on me for ever even getting my hopes up that it could've been different this time.

 

my 93 is a 112k mile daily driver and the only thing that has had to be replaced in the alternator.

There have been maybe a couple people that have had serious problems ie: overheating, engine died, etc.

Others seem to have rear end noise which seems to be more of a nuissane than anything. So there isn't really anything majorly wrong with the cars.

 

Consumer reports is a biased, pro Honday publication that rarely gives ANY car besides a Honda good ratings. I don't pay any attention to them.

 

Seems quite a few complaints showing up concerning this problem. Ours chatters on accel, especially in second gear. It did it right off the showroom floor.

We will wait til spring to give Ford a chance to sort it all out. The car is stored for the winter anyways.

Maybe it's a good time to swap the whiney thing out for a 6-speed...

 

My tranny makes a lot of curious noise from 1st to 2nd and depending on how quickly you let out the clutch, it feels like there's play in the gears also. I am a little worried about this! B)

 

Wade, how many of these 800 miles did you put on it? Just curious, because if it had several miles on it before you got it, then maybe somebody abused it when the motor was cold, etc.?

No odd noises after 200 miles. At least I don't think so.

As for the tranny noises, nope, mine sounds just fine. Had a friend lite it up a bit the other day, and everything worked like a dream. Traction control DEFINTELY works, LMAO!

 

Your reasining is quite flawed.. Generally, with any product, you only hear from people who've had bad experiences.. So the many thousands out there who have no had a single problem, you're not likely to hear from. Add that to the tens of thousands who don't care about internet forums and plan to keep their cars stock, those with problems are likely only a very small percentage of total owners. Its just those who have problems are the ones who are most vocal... the 95% of those without problems, you're never going to hear from.

And saying imports are higher quality is just laughable. Take a look at any VW forum and you'll find an absolute plethora of problems with them. And the Japanese aren't immune, either. Look at a Nissan 350z forum - that car's been riddled with problems and annoyances since day 1. Honda CRV's start on fire. Mitsubishi is very in debt right now, partly due to their massive warranty costs. Toyota engines turn oil into sludge.

Furthermore, have you forgotten this Mustang is an all-new car built in a different factory than the previous car? Consumer reports may have "rarely" rated the mustang to be a reliable car, but this is NOT the same old mustang they have been reporting about for 25 years, so that fact right there throws your reasoning right out the window. Consumer reports isn't going to have any RELIABLE information on the NEW mustangs reliability for at least a couple years.

 

The trannys our junk and I would swapout the rear for heavy duty stuff n-e waz. Just get rid of the freign junk and buy and 05 with a 5 speed have it flashed and tell the dealer to have the tranny rebuilt to performance specs if it is that bad. Consumer Reports is full of BS and always rates american qaulity low and chinese crap High. Just ignore em.

All these issues are really surprising. I have always heard the addage of "wait one year" when a new model comes out, but didnt think it would apply due to the enormous technology of today. I get more surprised with every issue I hear of.

 

My car has 179 miles on it i got it 2 days ago and I've been getting a werid noise out of the tranny going from 1st to 2nd.
