Trailer Hitches for the Mustang

I'm looking for pictures of '05 or later GT 'Stangs with trailer hitches on them. HiddenHitch had a picture of a hitch on a GT, but then took the picture down. If someone can post pictures, I would most appreciate it.

My owner's manual recommends 1,000 lbs. as the pulling limit. I will only be towing one of two motorcycles that weigh about 320 lbs each. The trailer itself, will weigh about 150 lbs. So, I am looking at about a 500 lb tow.

Thanks in advance for any pictures or comments.

Mike

There is a Green vert in here with one and a Blue Shelby Vert, If I find the pics I'll post , I could never find the hitch as I wanted to pull jet skies with it or for an adaptable bike rack.

Ha! funny you mention this cuz ive been researching like crazy the last few days. I'm moving to Vancouver, Canada and was looking into a trailer. i dont have much furniture to take up, just a desk and a dresser, and clothes. everything else is staying here, but i was looking into towing with my car but im super scared to do it, but im a cheap bastid! and dont want to rent a truck to tow. hitch wont be permanent though....

If you had a vert you could put the top down & pile it in ! on top of blankets of course.

Moved to the main forum since it is not specific to the GT/CS forum.

A couple years ago someone asked the hitch question, and someone answered with a photochop of a GT pulling like a 38' boat...was pretty funny

seriously though, a small trailer aint gonna hurt much, just the hitch does look a bit odd on a sports car. think in the manual they are rated for 500# and 100# tongue weight max...I think

Well, technically you can tow up to 1000lbs, according to the book. Not much of a boat, but you could probably haul a motorcycle trailer or an open trailer for some kayaks.

I'm trying to get a hidden hitch for mine so I can plug a bike rack on for when I cruise out to the trail.

Are you a brother mountain biker ? I don't see where you live in your sig , but if you ever get to south Florida we have a pretty good trial here at Markham Park ...

I moved to Las Vegas from Seattle in '05, and towed a closed (5' x 10' or something like that) trailer with my motorcycle, a TV, a futon, and a few other things. Hidden Hitch. Worked fine, even at 80 on cruise. I still have the hitch, just not that car.

It was kind of a pain to install, you have to snake the bolts into the inside of the frame rails from a hole a little farther forward. And it would be nearly impossible to get them back out when you take it off. But it worked for me.

Justin Burcham from JPC racing has one on his 8 second 05 mustang. It's completely hidden underneath the car (you don't see it looking at it from the back) until you put the hitch arm on there. I read a post a long time ago somewhere that said where he had it made.

I saw an 05+ vert towing a BBQ stove on wheels.Maybe a picnic at the park, some tasty ribs, burgers and beer might be O.K.

Hey U.K. Pony..are the tail lights stock issue for U.K. use?

I towed a 15' bass boat with my 79 Mustang back when I was in college. If gas prices stay this high and go higher, you'll see a whole lot of small cars pulling trailers. I saw a JetSki pulled by a Jetta the other day.
